Spare tire delete?
 

Any one considering deleting their spare tire and jack and carrying a can of
inflator? In Australia the 86 is delivered without a spare tire , I believe.

How much weight would this save?

I'd much rather have an actual spare than a can of fix-a-flat. Besides, the 86 needs the extra weight in the back anyway :bellyroll:

I drove without my spare for days in my jetta and ill prob pull this one out too. Prolly save you like 35 pds. I dont drive on long enough trips to need it anyways.

IMO it isn't worth the weight savings, if you ever blow out a side wall (tire inflator won't help at that point, and you would end up spending money on a tow).

i have a couple of S2K friends who ditched the spare tire for room in their trunk to carry shit. They have AAA road side assistance anyway

Count me in the "not enough weight to be worth it" category. Besides, the car is already biased nose heavy, why make it even more so?

In the time it takes AAA to show up, I'll already be on my way again.

I gotta ask! Who's stupid enough to take a "recovery tool" out of a road car? What? You can't get to work on time Speed Racer?

I used a can of that stuff once. All I did was piss of the tire guy who had to clean off all the sticky crap from the rim. Didn't even work, had to get it towed. (Mini coopers don't come with spares)

NC Miatas do not come with spares either. I bought one to put in my trunk for that very reason.

But they have a different weight ratio, I think the FRS is light in the rear, removing the spare wouldn't help handling.

I removed the spare tire from my Civic Si because in those cars you want the rear end to be extremely light. I'm not sure if I want to do that in the FR-S though, if anything I'd want to remove weight from the front end.

Didn't have a spare with my Mini Cooper S and never felt comfortable about not having one. Also ad Stoopid run flats.
