I found this on the plastic packaging for the Pioneer instruction manuals. It's taped on the outside of the manuals. What is this for?

No idea, but I just realized that I never got my head unit instructions or that cable. Hmmm

You probably know this already, but just in case - I think you have to be in neutral or park, or have a foot on the brake to enter an address... safety lockout.

I was in park, in the garage, with the car turned on. i couldn't enter an address...

EDIT: oh i just read the manual, it says i have to set the PARKING BRAKE to set addresses... not impressed. But i still don't know what that screw is for?

Its pioneer's joke of a sheet metal screw for the head units ground.

Which is a clue you should just ground out the ebrake wire from the head unit.

;)

I dont normally agree with disrespecting manufacture instruction :bump:

hey @Burrcold if you don't have the manuals, how do you know that you have to apply the parking brake before you can enter addresses?

Ben_G 02-17-2013 01:40 AM

I can't say for sure, but according to the dealer, they told me the screw is used to reset the head unit if you decide to sell it.

This thread to do a soft mod on your head unit. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24934

It's a pretty common thing with Navi systems as a safety precaution. It is annoying though. Using the rest of the system was pretty self explanitory though.
