Automatic Transmission Kick/Choke when shifting gears

I got my Red FR-S last week (11 miles after they filed it) and during various starts from lights I feel a kick in the transmission between 10 and 20 for slower starts and higher up for faster starts. Putting the car into VSC sport seems to help somewhat but it's still there. Dealer states that it's a normal part of the break-in process and can also happen when cold. How can I fix this.

I'm not clear on what you are experiencing. Can you be a little more specific?

When I start off from a light the car will shift gears but it will have a rough kick or jolt in the otherwise smooth shift. Pretty much like the car is holding itself back from shifting.

Mine does it too. Fuck it baylife.

Mine will sometimes do this but its rare and most noticeable when the car and transmission fluid is very cold.

I wouldn't be too concerned unless its still doing it when your car is at 1000 miles.

I got my asphalt 6AT FR-S right before Christmas. Mine did this tonight and one time last week, or so I think.

It happens when I'm slow driving, but the transmission seemed to hold onto 1st and 2nd gear till close to 4k, even though it normally shifts at 2.5k during normal driving. I can't figure out what is going on with it. It sounded like it wanted to shift but couldn't.

Is the engine cold when it does this?

<---- doesn't have car yet

What's the current mileage and what is the weather like right now where you are at?

I'm guessing this will lessen as the car gains mileage.

My car only does this when its cold.

same here, in the mornings for me mostly

after it's all warmed up It's smooth as butter

thought my mods (see my mods below) affected my shifting, thought it was the lw pulley at first, but just the car's way of warming up :burnrubber:

I wouldn't be too concerned until it starts warming up and its still doing it.

Mine will sometimes shift like it has a modified valve body in the first 15 minutes of driving when its below 35 degrees in the morning. After it warms up, its almost smooth to the point of being, for lack of a better word, annoying. Its especially apparent when I am driving at 55mph. Its like the car can't seem to make up its mind to be in 6th or 5th.
