Here is the first teaser of the new Lotus Esprit that is going to be revealed in Geneva 2013. It is powered by a in-house made NA 4.8l V8 making more than 570 PS. No more Toyota engine.

beautiful, i have always been a fan of the Esprit, and i really hope this new car embodies the Esprit name well. Despite Lotus' new directions as a car maker.
|
Nice
OP, Do you mean Geneva 2012? |
No, it is really 2013. You know how long it takes for the new supercars, for intance the McLaren MP4-12C. The most important think is reliablity, and Lotus has no right to make any mistakes, like it is yet the case with McLaren. Anyway the car looks very futuristic, so in 2013 it won't be outdated.

Too much power.

I don't think that is too much power |
I like Lotus so I hope they succeed what the Esprit was before. Esprit was my favorite Lotus so they better get this right.
|
as long as they keep weight down
|
570ps out of a 4.8L NA? That's pretty impressive!
But it looks weird in black. You can't see the body lines like you can in Silver... |
Super super! I always loved the Esprit. This new one looks a lot like a Lamborghini.
|
It definitely looks Lamborghini-ish, very impressive that they're building their own engine. Was it a Lotus engine in the original Esprit? or did they outsource back then as well?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lotus_Esprit Also from wiki "Both naturally aspirated and twin-turbo variants are in the design phase, redlining at 9250 rpm. The 2013 Lotus V-8 shaves off 130-pounds than the 5.0-liter V-8 IS-F Lexus engine. Expect the 4.8-liter version to have some choices, 550*hp and 620*hp (Esprit R) along with a 3.2-liter V-6 at 350*hp (normally aspirated) or 500*hp (turbocharged). " |
