This... your only real options are spacers or just actually putting wider rubber on the back

Only do spacers if you change the studs, the stock studs are pathetically short.

Plasti-dip.

Buy wider tires

You can't with the stockers.

Pushing them out with spacers still keeps the chicken legged look. The tire's/rim width is just pathetically slim. Wait till you can afford 17x9 or 18x9 rims and slap some 245 - 265 rubber on there.

Eibach sells some neat spacers.

Rally Armor mudflaps. I'm rocking 215's on my Impreza Coupe, but the mudflaps give the appearance that I'm rolling wide.

.......from directly behind at least.

A fat chick in the back (if that was even possible... Seats down?) could cause it to weigh down so much people can't tell what you're rolling with... Other than that sounds like the other suggestions are your only option! :)

tape wide black tape off the edge of your tires so they'll look like they're part of your tire from the back from afar.

Best advice in here.

Stock is 215, I run a 225 square setup on my old ass FWD civic.. you need larger tires.

funnily enough, tyre sidewall shape plays a part too. For example I have 225 wide tyres on my 86 and my MR2 (same profile) and the MR2 tires look wider due to the curve of the tyre sidewall. on the 86 the sidewall is very rounded and on my mr2's tyres, quite flat/square.
