Any good legal places to go drifting in SoCal?

Does anyone know of a good (legit) place in SoCal (LA/OC) for a newb like me to go learn and practice drifting and power sliding? Somewhere preferably with no walls or barriers, like a hosted event at a parking lot or unused airfield? Any ideas how much of the tires would be left after half an hour or so of attempting to slide the car around?

This info can always be tough to get, a lot of places dont like the drifters because we eat up their track and a track clean up after a drift event is 10x worse than a autoX event... As far as I know the only 2 legit places around are Adams Motorsports Park thursdays at 6PM (small fucking track though, definitely tried to drift my 673whp 2JZ 240sx there and sent it up the dirt bank!) or look to drift balcony events at buttonwillow. The balcony is the shit, but it's a far drive and a small track but PERFECT for beginners.. That's where Taka Aono taught me :-D

but if anyone else has the scoop on drift events or knows where to stay up to date with them please do share...

I'd vouch for slidefactory. They fit exactly what you're looking to do. Their website is perfect for the first time drifter and should answer all of your questions.

SlideFactory is cool but heard through a few friends that beginners got shut out half the day for advanced for their twilight event last week. There were a few more experienced people hogging the only station for them to learn the figure 8 before jumping to the fast entry area taking away from their practice time. The station also disappeared once the lights went out... I'd be pissed if paid for that event.

86 Dynamic Driving Academy hosted by Moto Miwa. Learn drifting and car control. Normally held at Willow Springs Balcony.

Next tentative date is July 23. Feel free to express interest so the event can push thru. :)

20 bucks a session at a GO-KART TRACK, is not worth fucking up your car

Also any event by Slide Factory. They will teach you how to drift. I prefer 86 DDA, as it's a combo of grip drift instruction. But BOTH are good for beginners like me.

Grange is a pretty safe track for beginners yet technical enough for advance drifters. It's a fun and safe way to get started.

Slide Factory is hosting a drift clinic for beginners. It's a Balcony, Willow Spring International Raceway. It's a great place to learn your ebrake drift, donuts, and figure 8's on a big skid pad safe from walls and cops.

definitely not a track for beginners. sen great drivers have an issue there. i love the guys there give an outlet for it but way better places to learn and not have as much danger to the car.
