What is your motivation? Why do you track/autox/etc.? What are your motorsport goals?
Just curious :)
I do it because it allows me to challenge myself. I also like to educate people (whether they want the education or not...), and the FRS/BRZ gave me the opportunity to blaze the trail, and also educate people. Because it's a new platform, it's a new challenge to conquer, and a great opportunity to meet more enthusiasts. At the end of the day, I know that motorsport is not a viable career for 99.999% of the people out there, myself included, so I just see it as a hobby, albeit a really expensive one. |
Cocaine was cheaper, but worse for my health.

Honestly it's just fun. I did very well (imo at least) at local events this summer considering my inexperience, but really they could ditch all the timing and rankings and I'd still go just to drive for giggles.

Going to do my first autox at the end of March. I love cars and I really want to be able to safely and legally push my car. Autox seems like an easy transition for those without any racing experience. It'll start out as just fun, but I'm a competitive person, so we'll see where it goes from there.

My motivation for this car and the mods is that it is my very first "new" car and I can work on it myself without having to fix other people's old mods. I want a great sounding, faster than stock FR-S that I have to turn around and look back at once I park it.

No track experience yet, but when I do, it'll all be for fun! Just want to explore the car's capabilities and enjoy what the car was built to do.

HPDE: For fun.
W2W racing: For fun at a higher cost. |
i do it for fun. its what i enjoy.
HPDE/Auto-x i'll do because well, you just can't push a car that hard on the street, period. once you drive on track you realize that you can never even push a car on the street, too many variables. etc. also, the driver mod, is the best mod. no mod will have as high a return as seat time. once you learn to be a fast driver, you can drive anything fast. where as if you mod your car to hell, that doesn't mean YOU can drive it fast. "drag strip is for fast cars, road course is for fast drivers" plus, in the end we all bought these cars to enjoy them, what better way then to drive it? |
AutoX is the overlap in the Venn diagram of my love of roller coasters and choose-your-own-adventures.

I race my SpecE30 with NASA on 6 or 7 track weekends a year. It gives me something to look forward to and gets me through the boring and long work weeks. My goals are to win the Mid South regional championship in SpecE30 and then eventually go to Nationals and win that championship. I don't know that a trip out to Miller Motorsports Park is in the works this year or next though.

Heroin is hard to come by... thus I HPDE. :bonk:

To become the sf down hill specialist!!!!! lol just wanting to be the best possible driver I can be and what better a place to hone my skills than the track.
|
I ran my first autocross in 1978 driving a 1977 Trans Am in F stock. Ended up in 2nd place and have been hooked ever since. There have been times when I've tried to retire but always come back to the sport.
I love the competition aspect of it and the life long friends I've garnered over the years. My wife thinks I take the sport too seriously because I hate to lose. She's probably right, but it's a lot more fun when you win or are at least competitive. My son and I will be co driving my FRS in RTR this year. Can't wait till spring. |
For me I have found that the track keeps me in the drivers seat pushing my skills.
I'm hoping it will make me faster in the dirt where I compete competitively. It's all about seat time for me and it lets me drive my FRS like a maniac without getting a ticket.:) |
