i got a question and i dont want to make a thread for it lol. wth is that little breather hose on the intake going too, because the pcv is in the back and ran off the manifold. and these intake hoses normally go to the valve covers but this goes to the block, dam near top of the piston.

Jayde 02-12-2013 11:46 PM

Looks like this?

I don't know if PA lies in your tri state but...
Every time is see someone from PA riding our VA highways, they are either retarded or just plain retard. Do you guys not from PA agree with this? And do you PA people acknowledge this?

Ok, for anyone to comment on anything you have to be more specific than, "Retarded".

Lee358 02-13-2013 07:50 PM

like driving slow in the left lane?

You mean like every terrible driver in every state of the USA? I've seen plenty of people from MD and NJ do it here as well.

Having done plenty of driving in PA, NY, and NJ I have to say NY drivers are by far the worst at this. However PA does have a law against being in the left lane and not passing, not that it's ever enforced.

Lee358 02-13-2013 07:56 PM

nj drivers suck!

But PA doesn't require a front license plate!

NY drivers driving slow in the left lane? that goes against the only major stereotype of our drivers lol.

PA drivers have NO idea what the hell they're doing behind the wheel of a car. My car comes close to being written off on a daily basis. You need to be 100% alert driving in PA if you care about your car.

The problem is not that they are bad drivers because they are aggressive, it's the opposite. The PA driver is a timid creature. Typically has no confidence in what they are doing in their two ton vehicle.

And the whole left lane/right lane thing on the highways? No one in PA acknowledges this. Go in the lane you feel like. Or the lane that has a better view of the pretty trees.

Seem familiar by any chance?

I need to move.

*The exceptions to the PA driver stereotype are the older car enthusiasts. Usually.

What's that?

From my experience it's like this:
PA: Go fast in the left lane or get the hell out of my way.
NJ: Every lane for themselves!
NY: Zero fucks given, I'll do what I want.

yea nvm, i guess that's fair. i always thought of it more as driving like lunatics.

Once I accepted those general mentalities I found driving in each state no less irritating than the next. :D

IloveBaldEagles 02-13-2013 09:17 PM

Haha. I'll admit. The DMV drivers are as shitty as all over the US. I've had just moments ago someone going 45 on the left lane and when I passed him he honked and high beamed me. I wish there would be a law, if you aren't confident of going over 50, get off the highway.

IloveBaldEagles 02-13-2013 09:18 PM

But still. PA drivers on VA highways are lost.

Are you sure it isn't related with the PCV? The only reason why I bring this up is because the PCV is routed back before the throttle body.

This is from my understanding and I will need confirmation on this, but a fellow member saw carbon build-up on the throttle body. If the PCV routed back through the manifold, you would not see carbon build up in the throttle body as it would bypass that part of the system.

Hope this helps.

Again, you need to define lost. Lost as in hopeless or lost as in actually lost? Usually people from 3 or more states away do have a habit of getting lost.

Generally this. Every now and then you get the completely aloof moron who totally forgot he was in the left lane or the asshole who highbeams and flicks you off when you pass his slow ass on the right. Again though, these are pretty general across all states, including morons who have no idea what the stalk you move up and down with the blinky arrows does.

.............we might as well just rename this the "Dumb Ass Drivers and Pet Peeves" thread.

thanx but im sure the pcv is on the back right of the motor and is routed to the manifold under the cover.. But this could be a 2nd pcv im starting to think. it goes to a little black fitting under the ac compressor. hmmm could be 2, one for each half of the block?

I enforce it, i give the person a fair 5 count when theres no cars in the right lane, if they dont move right i pass right and then sometimes brake check the fuck out of them (if they were oblivious to me behind them because they were on their cell, shaving, eating, reading the paper, doing makeup, whatever)

are you saying you get in front of them an then slam the brakes? that's a bit insane

I'm finishing up my bachelor's at DeVry in about 2 weeks. Already in at a social network based in NYC, so I'm lucky to not be on the job hunt most of my classmates are doing.

I think I found your answer.

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12135

Download the single pdf and take a look at page 993 in the file. I believe the hose you are looking at is "No. 2 Ventilation Hose" which then connects to the intake. It seems like it is related to a purge valve? It seems to be related to emissions.

:happy0180:

joop1987 02-15-2013 11:53 AM

It's the fresh air intake side of the PVC system. All cars have it. the other side is on the intake manifold side so it creates a vacume when the throttle body plate is closed (by creating a negative pressure inside the intake manifold). It's got to get fresh air inside the valve covers from somewhere.
