HKS Premium Day 2013: FA20 stroker kit and cams

has this been posted yet? according to this site HKS previewed a stroker kit and cams for the FA20 engine.

http://www.pitnavi.com/images/210175...0mxrimage1.jpg
HKS stroker kit: keeps the 86 bore and increases stroke to 90mm. comp ratio is lowered 10.5:1 for boosted applications.

Valcon camshafts: IN 260 degrees (stock is 252) EX 266 (stock is 260), lift is 12mm (stock 11mm). because you need four this is probably gonna cost a lot.

Good to see some engine work finally. I'm a little disappointed the stroker kit lowers the compression... What about those that wanted a full n/a build?

cyde01 02-12-2013 02:59 PM

guess we'll have to keep waiting for high comp pistons. with d4s, i wonder if they'll be able to make pistons that are even higher than 12.5:1? it's cool though to have confirmation that the engine can be stroked to at least 90mm. the F22C with a similar stroke redlines at 8200 rpm. i wonder how the F22C's torque curve compares to the FA20?

Not sure on the F22, but here is a dyno of a stock F20 (red line) vs a stock FA20. (pink line)

hmmm since the fa20 already makes 160 lb/ft, with a stroker can we expect even more torque than the f22c which makes 162 lb/ft? what would the displacement be at 86x90?

usptwins 02-12-2013 06:32 PM

IDK how much all of this will cost, but i love it!!!!!

industrial 02-12-2013 06:59 PM

Nice to see some engine work. Too bad this will cost $4k. I'll wait for more options hopefully from kelford, bc and cosworth.

Captain Insano 02-12-2013 08:32 PM

I am disappointed as well that the pistons lower compression. But happy to see options like this arriving. And probably lots more options to come, some of which will keep stock or higher compression ratio.

Swift 02-12-2013 09:05 PM

I like keeping a square block but glad to see this out.

Grip Ronin 02-12-2013 11:08 PM

caaaaammms only big upgrade i want for this car honestly. ive done enough turbo setups for now

turbo_jimbo 02-12-2013 11:30 PM

Finally cams and they arent much different than stock. I'll keep my money until bigger gains can be had.

Snake 02-13-2013 09:09 AM

Surely getting some high comp pistons onto this setup wouldn't be that difficult?

dabocx 02-13-2013 09:36 AM

Finally cams!

2.0912 liters.

Kinda sad really - i was hoping to see the HKS stroker toss it in the 2.2L region.

But yes, the old addage is that theres no replacement for displacement. With displacement comes torque. Dont expect anything insane, but i would estimate about 10-12 more hp and 8-10 more torque throughout the entire rpm range. coupled with the cams and some head work, 30ish more hp in the 8000 rpm range.

Coheed 02-13-2013 02:04 PM

The cams aren't much larger than factory, but they are likely designed to utilize the different piston speeds of the stroker kit. That would make sense. But the aftermarket should have cams out soon that will not lose any power anywhere appreciable, and help hold the top end a little better.

12mm lift and around 270* duration should do quite well with the high compression. A higher duration cam with less aggressive ramp profiles can probably rev quite well on the stock valvetrain as well.

Levi 02-13-2013 06:39 PM

What I would like is increased compression, same capacity, more power/torque at high revs, don't care about low revs, "because race car".

86drift 02-13-2013 07:14 PM

I'm guessing the cams are for a turbo engine.
Because otherwise why would you bother changing them for such a small change in duration. I'm waiting for 280+ to be released.

bunny86 02-26-2013 06:58 AM

Apparently when testing a possible bore increase they found that there was not enough margin to do this safely, hence the stroker kit only.

JP 02-26-2013 07:31 AM

thats what darton sleeves are for ;)

Turbowned 03-21-2013 01:01 PM

^^ This. ^^ I would love to see a 2.2L stroker. I have difficulty justifying the cost of rebuilding an engine with all those parts for a measly increase in displacement. For example, I could spend $4k on a 7AG stroker kit for my MR2, which increases displacement to 1900cc using a 7A-FE block and 4A-GE head. Or I could just get forged pistons and rods for the 7A block and still have ~1850cc for about $1k.

*KID* 03-21-2013 02:57 PM

I would love to see some cams making peak power up to 220Hp.That be nice and hearing the cam notes on the exhaust exit

FAER 03-25-2013 01:47 AM

bore and stroke for a 2.4 OR AT LEAST 2.3 PLEASE...

Lonewolf 06-28-2013 08:36 PM

Any updates on this?

cf6mech 06-29-2013 05:58 AM

This engine will see a lot of development,....just stand bye.

NYCsubaruBRZ 07-01-2013 04:37 AM

???
What else is there to keep this car NA and get the most power besides this stroker kit, a tune, pulleys, intake, exhaust, downpipe, light weight rims, light weight flywheel, ditch junk in trunk, carbon drive shaft, bigger throttle body, headers, dry carbon exterior parts, light weight battery.

am i missing anything to make this car faster in a straight line?

i cant seem to find any other parts to make power

Light weight racing seats or better yet, bucket seats(5kg for super light ones).
Stock seats(in my car at least) on the BRZ's are around 19/20kg.. EACH.
Easy 10kg lost per seat imho. I need to make the switch soon also.

As for the stroker kit, imaging if this were paired to the HKS GT Supercharger kit.. I wonder what kinda GAINZ would be achieveable from such a combo...

Hima 01-07-2014 10:39 AM

How i can buy this camshaft ?

Lonewolf 05-04-2014 10:26 PM

I think I may have missed it...but whatever came of these parts?

stevo_12v 06-17-2014 12:16 PM

Bump.
Any updates?
I'm keen on price if anyone knows(full kit)

i think they're the same parts that are being used for this evasive motorsports build. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65202

here are the specs but i don't see a price anywhere
