Issues shipping oil to Canada? Anyone else have this issue?

So, like many others on this forum I've found that 2nd gear doesn't like the cold and up until the car gets warm I could have a hell of a time getting the car to shift properly.

So I decided to try out Motul Gear 300 since I had used Motul Motylgear in my 2010 WRX and it helped a bunch. Unfortunately it didn't help as much with cold shifting as I had hoped. Once warm it made everything butter smooth but I still felt that perhaps a thinner fluid could help with the cold shifting. Enter Pentosin. Read a couple threads on the stuff and it sounded like a lot of guys had a really good experience with it. Alright, let's order the stuff.

Being in Canada it isn't the easiest shit to find, but I found a local auto parts supplier that could order it and I pm'd a supplier on here as well just to see what my options were to acquire it. After a few pm's with Steve @Esoteric he gave me a good price shipped and due to the positive experience thus far I decided to order through him.

Once I sent payment he promptly shipped the oil and maintained good communication. Then, about three or four days later I receive an email from him. Apparently the Canadian and/or US governements have decided that you can no longer ship oil across the border. The oil was seized and Steve informed me that he tried contacting another shipper and they wouldn't ship it either. Anyone else aware of this new change? Seems like complete horseshit to me. But, despite the oil being seized Steve was exemplary in how he dealt with me. He gave me a full refund and apologized that he couldn't provide what I was looking for. I highly recommend dealing with him if you ever need anything. For anyone that lives in the US you could still order Pentosin from him. For those in Canada I will be ordering the Pentosin through APC. Apparently they are a distributor for Altrom, who is a distributor for CRP Industries, who is the North American distributor for Pentosin. Straightforward right?

Anyways, I will post back when I finally manage to even get some Pentosin to try. Just curious if anyone else had further information regarding the new regulations regarding shipping fluid across the border.

Your title is very misleading. I thought Pentosin caused your tranny to blew up.

That's shitty, APC as in, altezza tailights APC? I thought of ordering it online also but that's beginning to sound like a bad idea.

I guess one could try a BMW dealer? Don't they use that for their M3? It's probably overpriced though.

APC as in Auto Parts Center I think. I have heard check with BMW but that they are overpriced. I emailed CRP Industries a while back and this was the response I got:

Hi Lucas,

There are two large Canadian distributors of this product (the one liter size is our part number 8056107):

Altrom Canada (Nation wide): 604-294-2311

Lordco: 604-467-1581

Both are in British Columbia.

Thanks for your inquiry!

So I looked into them and the Altrom one led to a distributor in London.

Steve said that mine shipped out to Canada? Maybe mine will get held up too?

He said i should expect it by this Friday.

Yeah the thread title led me to believe you had a tranny issue... Not a customs issue

He just let me know on the 8th that it got seized. Perhaps it's an Ontario thing? I don't know much about how customs works.

Unite with us, and become USA. There is no point in being Canada anymore. Once you become us, you will get the good stuff. :D

No issues ordering into Alberta, but it wasn't cheap with shipping. Try a Canadian distributed, support local business.

I remember reading an article a couple weeks ago about some company that was shipping tankers of oil back and forth across the border. Each time the oil was "exported" they received carbon credits that could then be resold, for a profit. They may be cracking down on such activity, and you got caught in the middle.

Mine showed up today no problems!
