Feeler/ Meeting for club March 2??
When: Saturday March 2
Where: Fresh Korean Barbeque 17623 Sherman Way Van Nuys, CA 91406 Time: looking at 6 or 7 pm Well lets stop barking and start marking this Socal Club some to life!! I know we got a few sticker ideas and I believe we will go with @aced86 idea unless things change. I also thought about setting up the meet somewhere in Torrance unless someone else has another place to meet at. Trying to also make this more of a meeting and talk about what we are going to do with this club and elect some poeple to roles like @Calidrifter posted. I would like to see people at this meet who are going to be active in the club and not flackers. I understand some people that want to join the club and cant make it to this meet on march the 2 and its all good cause this is not a official Socal first meet. Once we get this club started and rolling then we can talk about doing a Big socal club meet. You will see in the second post I put up the rules and what we are looking for in the people that are going to run the club (Thanks calidrifter for that) If you have any ideas or question bring it up before its to late. |
Membership: obviously we want to keep the cost as low as possible for the stickers. However as the club grows so will peoples expectations of the available merch they can buy.
For example: If you want club shirts an easy way to go about getting some is to have each member buy a d ickies button up shirt in color of choice. The shirt will be given to the person in charge of merch for your area. They will then give it to the head SoCal merch rep, or whomever can get the best deal on embroidering. Said person will be able to give the club file to the shop to embroider the shirt. Does it cost more, yes but at least you will get nice shirts out of it. It used to cost a total of about 30 for this back in 2000 Leadership: breakdown of the central club roles should be more of as a boardroom and not political. However, Each chapter will have their own: Pres VP Treasurer Merch Rep (this will never be the same person as the treasurer) **the bottom two can be combined with either one of the top two if membership is low in certain areas. Ex: Pre/merch rep and VP treasurer** Central Meeting of leaders will take place at least once a year. This meeting should be held at the end of one of the large meets that gathers all of the chapters. The first meeting should have a vote for chairperson. The chair will basically be elected to organize the meeting and to keep things moving. There will also be a secretary involved so that there can be an agenda and so that important articles are addressed and noted for future meetings. Meeting notes will be emailed to chapter president and VP for follow up with area members. This meeting will also be open to ALL members of the club. However, ONLY the Pres/VP will be able to vote on any measures that are brought to vote. Meets: each chapter can set up their own meets as they see fit. The larger SoCal chapter will have one every 3 months. Attendance is not mandatory for all of the large meets but will be required in the more local chapters and you must attend at least 1 Large meet per year. This will help keep the club active at the lower levels and hopefully help get more people involved with the larger ones. I'm sure I'll add more to this as things move along but hopefully it helps you guys see what is needed to run an organization. Also, please be aware that as a club you will have cars that are built for show, track and some that are just daily drivers. Please do not alienate anyone just because they cannot or wish not to have cf parts or body kits as that will be the down turn of the club. if you want to set up more divisions such as show, track you can do so and still have fun with other car owner/enthusiasts. __________________ |
I would also suggest having a business statement or some type of statement of purpose. This will help officers and members understand the direction the club and its decisions are going. For example if the purpose is to provide a safe and respectful gathering of 86 enthusiasts to network, advance the car and local community, and leverage our collective power to achieve more opportunities in the car community. With a statement like this we all know we will have meets, maybe a little community service, and the treasurer can use our numbers to negotiate group buys on parts or organize fund raisers to help pay for a group track day, etc.
May I also nominate myself in charge of organizing club swag and merchandise? |
Some good ideas flowing . @that_one_guy . Haven't seen you before on the posts or making designs for prospective members and you want to nominate yourself for swag and merchandise ?

I have designed and made shirts for other organizations before. I have a couple friends in the apparel industry and depending on the scale of merchandise we want made, I have a lot of experience dealing with factories in China. I've already made my own shoe and have a jacket design I think would look good for the club. I have a really good plan to ensure a steady stream of new club members and income for the club but we can talk more about that when we get things better organized at the meet on March 2nd. |
As long as it doesn't get out of hand, CounterSpace Garage will supply the stickers.

@oso_25 You know me, I should be able to make it.
