Squeaking windows

Is this for real? Just had my first service and it happens to be raining. I am stoked on getting my first service. I get on the freeway and open my windows a bit and then close them. Awful squeaking noise ensues. Repeated multiple times same sound on the roll up. I never have had this happen and there has been plenty of rain. Took it back and the dealer service manager literally said the felt on the windows sill is wet and that's that. Really? No fix? Just when it rains my windows scream at me if I use them? Obviously going to take my services elsewhere. Anyone have a fix for this? Or even heard of this??

Very common on this vehicle...search for the complaints using "windows" in the titles only.

The windows are not one of the success stories when it comes to design features on this car. My dealer sprayed some kind of magic ju-ju juice and chanted good thoughts to make it go away. Seems like this is Scions plan for the moment. So far, so good.

Did the magic ju-ju juice have a name? I'd like mine treated with the same.

Much thanks in advance.

It's common on every vehicle. It's glass against a rubber seal...it vibrates and causes a noise. If you don't like it, rub grease all over the seals so the glass won't stick lol

I had a really wet week a few weeks ago and it the driver window started squeaking. Dried out and after about a week the squeak went away. Success!

Look on Amazon or Google for Einszett "Gummi Pflege Stift" It's a rubber conditioner, works great. I used it on my window seals and no more noises.

Toyota replaced the driver door seal under warranty. I haven't had the binding problem since.

briang0901 02-08-2013 08:25 PM

Had Toyota replace both window seals on mine, noise came back the next day it rained...smh

Guys...it's a fundamental property of rubber. Nothing is broken. When the smooth wet glass moves across the wet rubber it grabs and releases very quickly, vibrating and causing a squeak. It's the same reason your shoes squeak when you walk on a wet floor...do you take the shoes back to the store?

I'm sorry but I read the original post again...this attitude is unbelievable. You're acting like a fucking wheel fell off. Unbelievable.
