Virtual Dyno ?
Is using Virtual Dyno a good tool to compare differnt tunes?
How far off is it? I have been comparing differnt logs that I have from all the different tunes. It seems to compare to the butt dyno, if it feels better it usualy looks better on the virtual dyno. Here is my last tune. http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/w...ps0246990e.jpg Simmons |
I have Dynolicious on my iPhone, it was like $13.00. I bought it after reading a review in one of the many car magazines I get and they basically said its not perfect, but for the price its damn close. I find it to be pretty fun, doesn't really show small differences from things like a pulley but for $13 its worth it.

You could always dyno it and compare. It really depends on the road. I've had it be fairly accurate on level road, but any small incline/decline/potholes will cause disruption.

VirtualDyno is a great tool, if you take it for what it is. Increases or decreases in power will appear and give you a good idea of what is happening, but the numbers will not match up perfectly to a chassis dyno,
Consistency with virtual dyno is important. The less variables changing, the better. Always try to use the same gear. The same stretch of road. Etc. |
Most of the phone dyno's are actually pretty good, but require a very accurate vehicle + driver + fuel weight.

It's still a great tool though. |

Do you have any of your results? Thanks, Simmons |

If you're using the same road, same direction, same gear every time it should be pretty accurate to itself. It might not compare well to a chassis dyno, but it will definitely show you how mods are reacting to your car compared to previous runs.

virtual dyno is as accurate as you set it up, mine is exactly the same as a dynojet. Be sure to use the same road, going in the same direction every time, use smoothing level 3, and clip the last time stamp off the end to make sure you are not getting false rpm reading caused by shutting the logger.

Virtual dyno is very close to reality if you put all the right numbers, temp, weight, atm pressure. Also if you wanna compare be sure to always have your tank full before making a run otherwise you will have weight reduction.
I'm doing some test, to compare the differance in power as when you just flash the car and 2 weeks after' power. You will be surprise by the results. I will post that as soon as I have the data, I think some people won't be happy. |
