Come on you guys, you all act so innocent. I have yet to see a single FRS/BRZ behaving. Every single one that I've seen is weaving through traffic and tailgating anyone that isn't going fast enough for their liking. One of you got on my nerves the other night...

I noticed headlights weaving through traffic in my rear view. I was in the fast lane, the "speeder" ran into a wall of traffic and I forgot about him. A minute later, clear of the wall of traffic, I started to cross the 4 lanes one at a time as my exit was coming up in 2 miles. One lane away from getting into the far right, I notice those same headlights right on my a$$. The lane to my left is open, the lane to my right is open, but this rocket scientist felt I was in his way. I got over into the far right lane and the car "sped" past me, got over in front of me, and had to slow down for the two cars in front that were going ~58mph. I wanted to get next to him and inform him of his shortcomings, but there were cars to his left going just as slow. I was over it. As an exit only lane opened up, the two slow cars in front got over. The black FRS/BRZ sped up a bit and got over in front of them. He didn't leave any room behind him, so I wanted to pass and get over. As soon as I attempted to overtake him, he swerved back into my lane, narrowly missing my bumper. I didn't think it was intentional... at first, I just figured he may have realized it was an "exit only". So, I signaled and started to get over to the right, he swerved in front of me again and hit his brakes. I got over to the left, he did the same again. Now I'm pissed. I fake right, as he goes to cut me off again, I give it a little gas and go around him. He tried to gun it and stop me from overtaking him, but you all know how that went. In his effort to be a super ***, he was stuck exiting. He got right back on the freeway.

You're not all cherubs.

True that. I don't own a GT86, but there's a local guy around here(who I think is actually a member here) that has to show me how badass his FR-S is every time he sees me - usually while we're in rush hour traffic. His typical schtick is to ride my ass so hard that I can't see his headlights or he'll try to ride up in front of me to cut me off in my own lane. I get the impression my prescence initiates the behavior because of what I drive. I've seen him twice now and I got the same aggressive driving display both times. Whatever.

Then yesterday, I see another FR-S with a younger guy driving it, with a license plate of "86'D U". Really? That's a rather bold, attention attracting plate. To his credit, he was driving like a sane individual, minding his own business though.

I'm not going to pigeonhole all twin drivers, but I think the fact that it's an affordable car that appeals to a younger demographic might be the reason we're seeing what we're seeing.

Huehuecoyotl 02-20-2013 02:26 PM

I find listening to mandolin while driving induces the same behaviour

BRZerk 02-20-2013 04:08 PM

kid from HS I haven't seen in years tried to race me in his (parents?) equinox, i pulled away from the light and stopped at the speed limit, a few seconds later he comes crawling past. We get to the next light and he puts down the window and says I should race him in his integra. he said it was "fully built".

i looked it up on facebook, rusted out automatic with the airbags popped. hah. few pics later i saw it with unpainted body panels.

he should have said 'fully rebuilt"

I had 2 "modded" Civics surround me yesterday night as I was driving down the highway for a good 15 minutes on each side of my car. Gave me the high beam flashes and everything. Not sure what part of NO they don't understand. :mad0259:

FullTuneZN6 03-05-2013 05:58 PM

i had a guy do the speed up slow down speed off move yesterday...i think he was trying to make himself feel more manly bc he was driving a celica (gurls car)
:laughabove:

Mr.Jay 03-05-2013 06:03 PM

I grt a lot of big engine cars trying to get me to go AMG and V8. Lots of civics, couple mazda3. Not goin to lie I've had a go against a rsx type s, mazda3, mp5 and a couple s2k.

Liquidsnake 03-05-2013 06:12 PM

I am a definite ass hat, I race home from work everyday, diving in and out of the car pool lane to pass people in the fast lane going 58. I weave in and out of traffic. I apologize in advance, It is nothing personal. I just believe that most drivers on the road are morons, and If I am not offensive, I will suffer...........................How ever when driving to work, I am in no rush and often ride the middle lane all the way to work, because I hate it so much.

Max Schnell 03-05-2013 07:21 PM

I think people will race you no matter what you drive. Some people just can't stand the idea of having to be behind someone else if they have a chance to be in front.

Thats true, I may admit I am a bit more bold with this car, only because it is quicker than my old altima, but I dont go swerving though, I change lanes when safe. Hell I care more about the cars safety than trying to look like those ricers. But I have seen a white brz before just hauling big ass on the freeway, pretty aggressive driver. Not so cool.

Zero occurances..heck even frs people wont even wave or thumbs up

jlu 03-05-2013 10:02 PM

The only notable experience I had was when I stopped at a red light just ahead of a merge a bit too abruptly. The gentleman in the Tesla Roadster next to me seemed to take it as a challenge and floored it on the green and almost collided with oncoming traffic (there's a turn right after the merge). Scary.

That thing can move though.

DanoFA20 03-05-2013 10:19 PM

durring a car meet i was cruising with some pals and one has a e36 328 with m3 trans and diff, catless exhaust i used to own an e36 m3 so i know they are quick we rolled off the light and then both punched it i was amazed that im stock and pulled away haha. i never get reved at or challenged

sklimo 03-07-2013 02:19 PM

Haven't had anyone try to race me, but people love taking pictures of her at stop lights!!

neutron256 03-07-2013 02:27 PM

I've had the occasional Mustang or riced out honda try to get me to race at lights. What's a lot more common is people in other sports/sporty cars who feel the need to pass me on the freeway. Some are just getting a good look, for others its a very I think it just makes them feel good to think they're faster. This seems to happen me a lot with Audis for some reason.

ap5512 03-07-2013 05:36 PM

Had an older guy in a CTS-V coupe trying to get past me on a busy road....he was trying desperately to catch up to my car and pass me but had a very difficult time overtaking the cars in front of him to catch up to me. When he did he slowed down next to me and I just shook my head at him in disbelief. Disbelief because I couldn't fathom someone with a 550hp CTS-V trying to race a 200hp car...I really like the CTS-V but in this case it seemed like the late 40-something year-old was compensating for something...

Brzetto 03-07-2013 10:41 PM

Nothing yet but it's only a matter of time until some overzealous street racing idiot shows up. When I first got my Nissan, I had Evo's trying to mess with me. Another case was some redneck in a newer model Grand Prix, I think he had a mullet too.

Same thing. Compensation knows no age.

Asphaltfrs1 03-10-2013 07:25 PM

Cars that I've noticed that try to start something have been, camaros (new ones), civics( none Si), and a black Ferrari ( it was so awesome lol) oh yeah a silver 911 turbo. Ferrari and Porsche were cool, cause they revved their cars than took off. The others just linger around me. Lol

Haha, yeah it's cool to know that this car gets their attention.

switchlanez 03-10-2013 10:20 PM

Comes with the territory if your car looks or sounds aggressive and our cars *do* look aggressive from some angles. Never let it bother me, though, plus don't feel tempted since straight line speed isn't a strength. I once had a G35 and sometimes felt tempted but even then I only used the power to overtake. Its stock exhaust sound gave the impression of "come race me bro" and I'm sure any FR-S/BRZ w/ aftermarket exhaust would do the same.

TOTO_86 03-10-2013 10:27 PM

Some moron in a Trans AM rev at me then he decided to do a burnout behind me and almost hitting me. But yeah, I get all the Muscle cars trying to run me. And then some Hondas. lol

mr. slim 03-11-2013 04:59 AM

GLENDALE, CA has the worst. no matter how you drive. someone will always stare and try to race. funny thing this is, most people that rev and drive recklessly are the ones with benz, BMWs, camrys and accords. SMH

That's the Armenian way! I hate driving into Glendale... North Hollywood and Valley Village is starting to become like that, making a one lane street into a two lane just to pass you! I had these two Euro-muscles gang on me in the 101 fway during rush hour traffic.

Im on my way to work this morning, 5:30 am. Just got through a series of lights on a popular turnpike (rt 347 on LI) getting onto the entrance of a parkway. 2 lanes, hard left bank. I was cruising into the turn when a early 90's E300 is starts challenging me. HAHA, I owned that exact car for many years and I know it well! I thought, lets see how much balls he has. We too the turn at around 90, I gunned it coming in and came out at around 110. He was keeping up :-D
Its a hard turn; the FR-S didn't even comment on it, it loves that shit. I know the MB well and as mushy as they seem at high speed they surprise the shit out of you! Great balance and control but stll, I know he was holding on with two hands.
I killed the throttle at 100 and let him blow by, smelling like gas and oil!
Out of know where a new Si (who was way behind us earlier) came flying up at like 120 and blew by us. I caught up in an instant and ran him till his balls deflated.

I drive 30k a year on average,. lots of highway and ive been stalked, followed and incited by many in just a few weeks!
Im finding this car can out handle most, the BMWs and Audi fans are most curious.
The muscle car guys I ignore. No challenge, Oil and water.
I need 300HP! TT or SC maybe in a year.

For the past month I was actually a good boy in my car only because I wanted to break it in proper. I was challenged by a G35 on the freeway though; two girls pulled up next to me and saw my car then revved up and jumped in front of me. We came on to a tight exit turn and just to teach em a lesson I drafted them the whole way through. I could tell their car was having a hard time keeping speed around the turn but the FR-S was just cruising through that sh!t.
That's been it so far. Although last night I did keep pace with someone in a Camry going 90 on the 710.

shu5892001 03-11-2013 01:00 PM

I find a lot of G35 and G37 owners are douche begs, I try to stay away from them on the road...

norsamerican 03-11-2013 01:16 PM

cruised with a boostlogic built flat black GTR couple weeks ago on the interstate..we exchanged thumbs up and he gave me a little show of its power. Only to have a Pontiac G8 do a ricer fly by 3 mins later. I lol'd

Out here in West Texas I get alot of lifted deisel trucks with obnoxious 8 in tail pipes sticking up like smokestacks on an 18 wheeler reving and blowing smoke.
There are SO MANY new mustangs and camaros here and teeny boppers driving them around like morons. I get the occasional highschool kid asking me what kind of car it is then launch at the light. Most people dont race me because i look like a serios nerd. No tint and me eyeing ppl after they rev usually quites the noise

Not too sure if it qualifies, but, it always seems that when I merge onto the highway at one particular onramp, everyone sees me coming and must be thinking, "Oooh, sports car, I'm going to block him from merging." Most times though, because of the unusually long acceleration lane and if I get on the pedal fast enough, they don't have enough reaction time to continue with their douchebaggery because I have already flown by them. I think that they expect me to go little by little faster, but, I throw them off by flooring it. Otherwise, I think I have only had 1-2 times where someone obviously was "attempting" to race me. On the vast majority of days driving, I am able to ignore and control my impulses to react. Not making eye contact helps considerably. Seriously tempted to do the pick my nose thing though, that is hillarious.

People are assholes by nature. They always shit on someone with a nicer car.

Celica00 03-14-2013 05:03 AM

most blatant challenge i had was when i wasnt even in the car. i was washing my car when a baby blue mustang stops in the middle of the road in front of my house, looks at me, revs then speeds off like a bat out of hell in a 25 mph zone. whats the point of challenging when i cant race..

Msnicoleeeee 03-15-2013 05:50 AM

Wow. I was reading this thread in my car 10 min ago while waiting for it to warm up to go home and someone in an older mustang pulls up next to me, revs their engine a few times and then takes off up the street... I saw them pulled over by a cop on the freeway moments later haha

Also, someone left me a message down the whole driver window.. Not sure what it said since the mist/condensation took over from the cold. But I saw the last 4 digits of a phone number. I can't believe someone touched my baby :mad0260::mad0260::mad0260:

I find this thread entertaining.

On my last drive up to the 1st Fri of the month Torrance meet I was on the 5 north just past Oceanside where you start to enter Camp Pendleton. I'm crusing along at 70 with the CC on. Military dude on a superbike pulls up on me and starts revving and going ahead and behind me. I just look over and nod no. He drops the clutch and power wheelies off down the freeway. LOL.

Week after that, I'm heading north on the 15 in the fasttrack lane just passing over Lake Hodges. Dude pulls up next to me (in a 350/370?) in the fast lane and gestures that he wants to race. Right at this time my radar detector starts going nuts. There's an onramp into the fasttrack lanes that the CHP uses to swoop down on people about 1/4 mile ahead. I turn to the dude and try to point to my radar detector and nod my head no. He gives me a dirty look and punches it. Looked like he was at about 85 swerving through lanes up the hill right as the CHP cruser blew past me to chase him. LOL.
