This thread reminds me of the day when I bought a brand-new, $34,000.00 1996 Camaro SS Convertible. This was just as the "ricer crowd" was starting to get big. Seemed I couldn't drive anywhere without some kid in a Civic, Integra, Eclipse, or other POS with a coffee can muffler, stickers, fire extinguisher, Type-R badges, and Pep Boys "performance parts" trying to race me everywhere.

I dont race in my BRZ. I've got a civic at home with 1.8 liters of vtec fury for those times when i get the urge to go stomp some v8's.

I had a fast car, once. The only person who ever tried to race me was a 199...7, call it, Chrysler Cirrus with underglow. I was in a completely stock Audi S4. That was a weird experience.

That's odd. My B7 S4 also drew a lot of strange attention. Of all the cars I've owned, it was the one that sticks out as everyone wanting to race. I think the V8 badges may have set folks off.

actually, about a week ago i was turning left onto an on ramp that is kind of at a 90 degree angle when you turn left with no turnaround lane to yield to, I frequently take it when I go visit my parents and always use sport mode so i can slide thru the turn and gun it to get on the highway. Well apparently a shitty older jetta, (non gti or gli), that was behind me, wanted to "race". I use quotations because i was already on cruise control at 68 by the time he zoomed by me like 3 seconds later.... I was just like, ummm... ok. good effort, i suppose.

A couple weeks ago, I got "the jump" on an older Merc C-class Kompressor at a red light. I wasn't trying to race, I just know the traffic lights really well in my neighborhood.
He took it as a threat and made sure to stay in my sideview on the driver's side...either waiting for the next light or waiting for me to react and go for it. Eventually I needed to move over to make a left, so I downshifted and signaled. That's when he sped up and blocked me and continued to do so, even when I slowed down. Eventually I got over and he sped off, making sure I heard him. I admit, I probably should have just let him pass in the first place but I was slightly ahead of him and just thought it was just another C-class. These are the moments that make me miss my WRX, but they are few and far between. |

When people pull up next to me at a stop light and start revving/rolling back and forth, I look at them slowly- and while staring- start to pick my nose.
Works wonders. I don't know if it makes them feel like a$$heads, or makes me look like one, but they cut the crap 9 times out of 10. |

Only had one guy, in a red Mercedes C230, try to race me and apparently I inadvertently caused it. (I mentioned this in random thoughts a few days ago).
I made the "roll your window" down motion to him because I noticed his hood was popped up and wanted to let him know. Apparently he thought I meant "Yo, let's race!" because he just nodded and took off with a full launch as soon as the light changed. I just did a face palm and drove off on my merry way, but not before thinking what I shared in random thoughts... "if you are going to buy a used Mercedes it'll up your street cred if you remove the KIA dealership badge off the back after you buy it.... " |
Welllll I have Genesis, Sentras, Mirages, Porches, BMW, anything you named... I am in Puerto Rico and here everybody want to race me is crazy... to tell you the truth I was tired of being challenge and try with
WRX I was wasted Genesis Wasted Mitsubishi Mirage jajaja wasted... Now I just dont try nothing until I bost or supercharge my FRS... For the FRS Lovers I know the car is not for that but I want it to be able to beat a civic at least... and I will make it do it. |
Had an RX-8 try to race me a few weeks ago on the highway. Dude kept slowing down until I caught up and then would floor it. Didn't seem to understand that I was going to play.

Come on you guys, you all act so innocent. I have yet to see a single FRS/BRZ behaving. Every single one that I've seen is weaving through traffic and tailgating anyone that isn't going fast enough for their liking. One of you got on my nerves the other night...
I noticed headlights weaving through traffic in my rear view. I was in the fast lane, the "speeder" ran into a wall of traffic and I forgot about him. A minute later, clear of the wall of traffic, I started to cross the 4 lanes one at a time as my exit was coming up in 2 miles. One lane away from getting into the far right, I notice those same headlights right on my a$$. The lane to my left is open, the lane to my right is open, but this rocket scientist felt I was in his way. I got over into the far right lane and the car "sped" past me, got over in front of me, and had to slow down for the two cars in front that were going ~58mph. I wanted to get next to him and inform him of his shortcomings, but there were cars to his left going just as slow. I was over it. As an exit only lane opened up, the two slow cars in front got over. The black FRS/BRZ sped up a bit and got over in front of them. He didn't leave any room behind him, so I wanted to pass and get over. As soon as I attempted to overtake him, he swerved back into my lane, narrowly missing my bumper. I didn't think it was intentional... at first, I just figured he may have realized it was an "exit only". So, I signaled and started to get over to the right, he swerved in front of me again and hit his brakes. I got over to the left, he did the same again. Now I'm pissed. I fake right, as he goes to cut me off again, I give it a little gas and go around him. He tried to gun it and stop me from overtaking him, but you all know how that went. In his effort to be a super ***, he was stuck exiting. He got right back on the freeway. You're not all cherubs. |

I had an Audi S4 pull up next to me while I pulled over to send a text and he waited until I pulled out and floored it when he saw me accelerate, and by accelerate I mean go from 0-60 in like 30 seconds haha. I might've showed him something if it was an A4 but man I am honored to have an S4 try to race me... The twins are beautiful.
