So they may have all the looks but not the umph that goes with it.

Looking fast, being fast and driving fast are not all givens. I have seen some very fast cars driven very poorly (don't even get me started about 'Vette drivers around here) and I have seen some supposedly "slow" cars driven very well.
I wasn't there though so I will have to bow to your observations.

After seeing a lot of the G35 owners nowadays now that they can be had for really cheap, I apologize to all of you who are the subject of their nonsense.

SEVEN encounters in the span of ~20 minutes.
1. So I get off work, approaching a red light, truck going the opposite way. Guy screams out "RACE ME BRO!"
2. I reach that light and prepare to make a left turn. I make the left behind a car in front of me into the right lane, is350 cuts on the inside of me and floors it, only to slam his brakes 100ft later and his front wheels are in the intersection.
3. At the light I am making a right to enter the freeway, I enter and its a two lane entrance that becomes one, I am ahead of an altima(with black steelies and purple lights), I get a jump(I always enter semi-aggressive to relieve some work tension). He tries to go in the other lane to pass me but is unsuccessful. So the very next exit less than 20 seconds away is merging onto another freeway, I see red lights so I let off, he changes lanes to the left on a two lane highway only to slam on his brakes.
4. As we are slowing down I pass the altima and in front of him is a newer retro mustang lowered and blue lights and I get ahead of him. I see him weaving between lanes to catch up to me. He gets next to me and floors it(v8/exhaust/auto), only to brake. I pass him soon after.
5. 5 minutes pass and another freeway merges onto the one I am on, so there is slow 10mph traffic, a jetta is to my right and I am in his blind spot so he starts turning into my lane AT me and he twitches back into his own lane to floor it and get stuck behind a semi. About at minute passes and we get back to speed and I see him, he is on the passing lane and everyone else is too, he is stuck behind a prius, I see him change lanes to try to catch up, but a suv cuts him off.
6. About 10 minutes later traffic frees up and a old boxter is on my ass(I cant see his headlights) for no reason and I tap my brake to let him know to back off, he changes lanes to pass, only to get stuck behind another car(look ahead bro!!). I see him tailgate a bunch of other cars and change lanes multiple times, I stay in my lane and he ends up getting trapped between cars and I pass him. He tries to catch up wasting a bunch of gas only to slam on his brakes. He exits soon after he gets stuck behind a semi.
7. So traffic bunches up again, a porsche gt3 is two lanes to the right of me entering, I pass him for a bit. He catches up in traffic and floors it next to me only to slam on his brakes. Sounded good. Nice fixed wing. Nice and low.

I would recommend staying off the freeway next time. People might die. Just a heads up. Great story though!

@swarb: I think it's less about people wanting to race you than it is that people in LA are jerks.

Not easy averaging 28.5mpg in LA traffic. I'm not strapped... yet.

Haha not you! I went to school in Irvine and always hated driving down there. Every time I drove on the 405, I almost died. People are blind or road rage over the smallest thing.

^irvine is one of the more safer/docile cities too... just don't have an exhaust near cops.

The 405 is hell on earth.

Ya, people rage over the smallest things here. Try honking. Instant rage. Not sure if it is the same in nor-cal, but definitely not NY.

I have had tire sponsor stickers on the fenders for a few weeks now, and BBK/pads makes car squeals like a pig when I stop for redlights. Car is still slow but nobody wants to race me anymore :iono:

Had a bro trying to race me in his breadvan the other day (HHR SS). Went for a drive to listen to my new Perrin exhaust and was just making a left onto a four lane road and he is on my ass through the turn then flies into the left lane and drives perfectly beside me. Starts lurching the car as I'm cruising at about 5mph over the limit. Air temp was about 25* and the roads were probably colder. Not going to race anybody on public roads, much less on summer tires in the freezing cold.

Besides, in a straight line he would've demolished me. LOL.

last night i encounted a STI at a gas station

as he was pulling in, he kept giving his car that Civic Rev, over revving the motor for no reason at all


pulls up to the pump behind a jeep just so he could park his car next to mine (there were other pumps available to use)

again, to pull up maybe the 4 ft that he did, he kept having to over rev for noooo reason, parks the car and im already looking at him like "wtf mate"

gets out, comes over and asks how much HP i got,
told him its stock,

he doesnt beleive me, on a serious note, the car is stock

long story short, he wouldnt leave me alone, as i pull out of the gas station he rips it passed me, onto the on ramp for the highway,

dont know what was wrong with this kid, even on the highway he would slow down and wait for me to creep up on him, at this point i had cruise control set for 65-70

had NOOOOOO intension what so ever, would not quit

I live on the east coast, but had a contract job that took me to the west coast. Every other week for 4 years, I drove the 405 between LAX and Seal Beach. It was always an experience. And what is it with debris on the 405? It seemed to me there was always more crap on that freeway than most.
