Doubt it, threads only get locked when things get way out of control. I simple made a smartass remark.

I cant justify racing or even acknowledging beat to hell rice cars. why race them? if you win: good that's what should've happened. but if you lose you look like a moron in this sexy sleek gt86 with a guy in some rattle-box riding off laughing.

the second day I had the car, I had a civic with a fart cannon on it gun it on me at a traffic light. I kept up with it shifting normally and keeping it under 4k for my break in. he proceeded to take it up wayyyy fast, i stayed where i was. My dad was in the car dying, saying he thinks he just dusted you! I just shrugged and was like meh, I didn't realize he was racing me.

So as im going into work yesterday i take a turn onto a street that should be 2 lanes but its only one (5-6 cars wide). i got maybe 80 feet in only to hear the loudest turbo spool and my boss pass me in his AMS built twin turbo R8. when i pulled into the shop he loughs and says, your car is kinda slow.

I actually haven't had very many "come race me bro" moments in the FRS.

I do recall one in particular though. Some dude in a 05-06 Acura TL was pacing on me 9. There was basically no one on the road so I thought "fuck it, why not," downshifted to 3rd and floored it. Pulled on him by maybe half a car length til about the top of 4th gear is when he started reeling me in.

I don't "street race" and hardly ever drive aggressively so I thought it was fun. :D

People were nice enough to let me change lanes etc. However not the case with the BRZ. It seems to happen to me all the time now. I swear I feel people are reluctant to let a sports car go in front of them and decides to speed up and not allow them to pass. Anyone else feel this way?

I guess it isn't just me. Sounds like a common occurrence. :word:

This is an interesting thread. I've been reading it over the weekend and it has really made me think about the way I want (and don't want) to be perceived when I finally take the FRS/BRZ plunge. I have a history of driving cars that are "fun" to drive-- not necessarily fast cars, but fun cars. My current car (MCS JCW) is quite fast. It has a rather large M7 CAI, an electronic throttle modulator, and formerly a big air diffuser/spoiler at the back. I took the diffuser off and went back to stock because I grew tired of the "boy racers" trying to egg me on at lights, and cutting me off on the highway to get me to "notice" them. Street racing in Canada (specifically Ontario although not certain) is treated very seriously. Your vehicle can be taken from you and sold at auction, you can be fined thousands of dollars, and also be sent to jail. To top it off-- you are essentially uninsurable for the next decade of your life-- that is, IF you can convince a judge at this point that you deserve to even have a license.

We've all been there-- myself included: A feeling of "needing" to teach someone a lesson. To show off a bit. To not let someone think they are better than you. I've learned to ignore these people: put my windows up and not look at them. Turn right and go into a store for a minute. I know my car is fast. I know my car can out manoeuvre most others in the same price range. My need to prove myself defers to my need to keep my licence and not act like an idiot on the road. I can't imagine how much it would ruin my life if I got caught trying to "prove myself" by not letting a Civic Si, or a WRX get the better of me.

You ALL drive amazing cars. You don't need to prove anything to anyone. I know it is frustrating, and people can be jerks on the road. Be safe.

This is the reason why many car maker go for SUV instead, because after all, you are just driving , and only 3% of the population do appreciate sport car and race it in the track

I had a "come race me bro" moment yesterday. I was making my way home from a party through a backwoods twisty road. After about 6 miles this lands at a highway area, apperantly a tricked out truck had been struggling to follow me the whole time prior to the highway. He started pacing me, and at a stop light revved his motor.. of course I just drove normally as he spun his tires to "beat me" in this apparent road course gone drag race. I guess he showed me who's boss, couldn't keep up for miles and miles.. but is extremely talented at smashing on the gas pedal.

I think you are right. Actually... I know you are right. My partner works in car sales and has worked for Hyundai, Chrysler, and now Toyota. He says the market is VERY small for a sports car. He said a lot of ppl like the "idea" of owning one, but when it comes down to it-- most purchase a sedan or SUV as a daily driver; they simply can't justify passing up on something that can haul the family around in favour of what they really want. But yes... for the other 3%... we appreciate things like exceptional handling, refinement, attention to detail, and that feeling of exclusivity. I tried to talk myself into buying a Prius last month. The thought of owning one no matter how many "nifty gizmos" it had in it, was killing me on the inside. They are a nice car...not for me. Same with an SUV-- I understand the practicality but... wow... I'd fall asleep driving one.

Funny thing-- on my way home from work I had a guy cut me off in a heavily modded older model Focus SVT. I'm not sure what I did to piss him off (I was just driving) but he made it a point of passing me on the right (knowing that the lane was ending) then cutting me off, braking rather hard, then speeding off. I'm happy my commute to work is less than 5km because I can't imagine having to deal with crap like this on the highway. :sigh:

Let me preface this by saying, if you can't already tell by the title under my forum name, I'm new here. I have a couple friends here in town where I live that have FR-S'. I love and respect the car for what it is. I love to drive their cars for the obvious reasons the car was created for. I am eagerly awaiting the full development of forced induction mods for this platform (because it takes time for solid, proven ones to develop) and there's a good chance I may end up in one. Thus, I joined the forum. However, I did have a jackass in a red FR-S last week try to run me on I-10 the other day. I downshifted and started to run at him, but quickly changed my mind. Like many others have stated in here, not worth my gas. Then again, that's pretty much my attitude toward every encounter I have these days. The FR-S isn't a drag car.

I will say I don't get many encounters in my current vehicle. For someone reason, no one wants to pick on a station wagon...:D

Might be the same jackass the was beside me and a buddy of mine on 46 after a day in the hill country. The guy was driving on the shoulder in bumper to bumper traffic revving his engine and continued to tailgate the ever living shit out of me once he decided to get off the shoulder. Idiots like that and the one you mentioned are what give us a bad name.
