But, but, but Zaku, I love the Scion exterior!!! Er, mainly the front and 86 emblems.

I could see an optioned out Scion being more expensive than a BRZ. And I would pay for a la carte options if it meant I got the car I wanted. Which is also part of Scion's mantra.

To the OP (lol) the S2000's stereo was in that position on the cubby and ironically owners would cut the hole on the dash to put an LCD screen.

The bottom cubby looks like it's tapered though and a regular stereo might be a little tight.

Keep Up the good work SCION stick to you're Goal give us a good affordable driver car.

Do you honestly believe that a push button start will make the car less sporty or fun to drive? I mean that question seriously.

Will the heated seats make it less fun to drive or less sporty?

Will the Navi make it less fun to drive or less sporty?

Will the HIDs make it less fun to drive or less sporty?

The scion lacks all of these things for one simple reason, to make it the cheapest option of the three version the USA will receive. Subaru brought the sport back, not Scion. Toyota's suspension tuning is more agressive, and that's to Scion's benefit, but that wasn't Scion's call either.

The luxury items and the very little weight that add with have a minor effect on the car, but we aren't talking a lot of weight here and the driving experience will be the same once a loaded and base model have the same suspension tuning.

Personally I don't care if people want the base Scion or a fully loaded BRZ. They will enjoy their choice based on their own requirements for the car so I don't understand why so many threads focus on this crap.

Jordo! 12-12-2011 06:09 PM

Why does it matter? Who cares if you use a key or push a button...?

Hell you know what I'll even make and offer to everyone out there, if you get a BRZ and you want an FRS front and Lights. Trade it with me if I get an FRS I'll be happy to. we can figure out how to do a DIY together.

That's another thing...people hate to admit this, but it is the Front and 86 Pistons... that makes them want the FRS more... alot of people. But that's a pretty valid reason though the styling is a very big thing. Again.... it's a personal preference sometimes those people forget to consider about the masses out there, because they like the exterior but care more about the interior, and when the interior doesn't provide they want to complain and try to make themselves heard. Some are very nice and mature about it giving good sound reasoning and is willing to pay for it( thanks Zgrinch), but other will make the most immature argument possible.

"it's Cool, It's like a fighter jet, it's on everything else... but please keep it 22k"

You know what The Rev matching in a 370z is "Cool" it's not needed but it's awesome! and helps make you feel like a pro with a "Push of a button"
but it's 5000$, kudos to you if you are going to pay for it
, it's pretty fun I've tried it. many wont.

And this is a broken record because they've taken this argument for this single button thru almost every thread, they've attacked SCION in the "Drop the ball Thread" and new threads appear everyday on the subject. so many threads have been jacked even gone into the BRZ section.

Isn't it time we stop?

Fact:
These 3 cars we seen so far, there's actually a 4th orange one in japan we only seen in that one spy vid. but these 3 cars are Pre production. We don't know what the actual cars will be like, we don't know anything. Please wait patiently for them to do their work I'm sure they've considered the things we want on many factors.

All we are doing now is slowly, creating a community that has taken sides that viciously attack each other, on every turn. And we're suppose to slide together.

To the op,

No Push Start is a good thing?

Yes and No.

Yes, sports cars are meant to be just that, sports cars, and real sports cars don't have all that luxurious crap. If you want luxury, buy a luxury sedan. This is why I respect Porsche and Lotus so much. They know how to make a TRUE sports car. No carpets, no radio, no bs heated seats or mirrors, just a pure fun drivers car. Toyota and Subaru should have thought about that when making this car. I guess they kinda did considering the Scion/Toyota is more of a drivers car and the Subaru is a point A to B car......

Yea I said it, /thread

I doubt people will take out the radio in the middle in place of gauges. Cause it wouldn't make sense to have 8 speakers inside the car you can't use. Unless you take out those speakers.

I see people using the typical pillar gauges instead.

Go ahead and point out the exact part of my quoted post that you don't believe. Then after that could you please let us all know why it's false? I don't think I mentioned a single thing in there regarding aftermarket.

:word:The majority of this debate is simply preference and will have no appreciable affect on the performance of the car. I can't believe we're this many pages into a thread discussing the "performance characteristics" of a push button start.

Holy SHIT!

A Porsche with navigation, Bluetooth, leather seats, USB, air conditioning, bi-xenon headlights!!!! Oh the humanity!!!!! This surely can't be a true sports car!

Seriously, get off the high horse.

Not all premium options are fluff, calm down and think a little. Some people want these type options, they are not dumb because they do.

Finally somebody who is thinking like me!

I can't understand the hate of push start, when it looks cool and is so convenient. Its not like it is going to save them a lot to not include it. But the reason its not there is because they engineered it to only be in the cars with the Dual Zone HVAC. That's why the premium BRZ will not have it either. That's why the premium BRZ and the FRS are going to be real close in price. Think less than $1000 difference.

But hey anything can change...the cars are still about 4 to 6 months away from being released.

:word:Aside for the fact that Porsche charge you "MORE for LESS" IE Boxster Spyder. This is an absolutely correct statement and wow... last time I check... wait what car were they trying to get this thing to be closest to... oh...

a CAYMAN S

for none Cayman S price. Because Cayman S are not... Affordable.

I wouldn't call that stuff crap though alot of thing are real nice amenities to have.

but all this expecting SCION a sub brand known for lower cost materials, lower cheaper interior, a Mono spec Brand to ACT like they are the Parent

TOYOTA... I mean come on... your asking something that is known to be worst equipped then Daihatsu to be Lexus.

Simply NO it doesn't effect the performance of the car. But are you even looking at the company the brand your asking from, asking the wrong people.

They're a company that's not obligated to cater to your needs. It's probably why they're going down but still, the bigger picture is the means.

Affordable RWD car with no unnecessary.

Bottom line

Lotus has push start and Dual Zone HVAC in the Evora.

Push start is standard in all Lotus models.
So are leather seats, and Bi-Xenon headlights and LED taillights.

Oh but these are all luxury items...LOL!

I understand why Subaru and Scion did not make push start, leather seats, and DualZone AC standard on the low end models. Its all about price points.

But the High-Spec 86 and the Limited BRZ are far from loaded sports cars...

Why don't other people get that... it's SCION not Toyota or Subaru. The last time they had Push start it was on a Special Edition....I find it far from the truth to have it standard and not an Accessory and they do offer those push to start key accessory...yet those car that has it has no Push start.

Move along people!

They aren't mutually exclusive. Define how these things actually hurt the driving experience. I won't say push button start adds to it (it doesn't), it just doesn't detract from it either.

911s have tons of luxury bits, more than these cars have. They do make more raw versions but that's not the standard offering. Or does a leather coated dashboard somehow add to the driver enjoyment compared to a push button start? Or power seats? etc

I will bet you that if you drove the BRZ Premium (which is basically an FRS according to reports just with Nav and HIDs) and the BRZ limited, both will drive exactly the same and will be just as fun to drive as the other.
