[Group buy] TRD Sound Changers
Just checking interest in the TRD Sound changers.
I can probably order these shipped to me in Brisbane for $40. I can then post around to whoever wants one around Australia. Postage I don't anticipate to be more than $10. I need to gauge interest though because for the price of $40, I need to order 20 of these to get the price in shipping. I can't promise this will go through, but once I get final numbers here I can talk with the distributor for confirmation of everything. I created a thread in gt86 aus forums, so I will update that table from any interest here. If you want to know how to install these or what each of these will sound like you can find it on 8 6 f o r u m s.com.au (Thanks to "Sweep"). |
Excuse my ignorance but can't you just remove the piece of foam from the tube in the foot well? so it opens it fully? Instant red tube apparently.

I am just after an aftermarket solution for changing the induction sound, whether it will be soft-loud and without having to modify anything stock. |
I have no muffler on mine anymore so wouldn't be able to hear the sound tube anyway

Red - remove foam from stock one
Blue - block stock one completely or even easier plug from the inside by moving the firewall carpet and plugging where sound tube plugs into firewall grommet. Only issue then is you can't go back to stock and of course you won't have a green one. Most people though seem to want red (full noise) or blue (quietest) and the above achieves that. Personally I have the blue one installed and like the more natural engine noise. If you want the full range though the sound changers are one of the cheapest TRD parts you'll be able to buy! . |

DIY from @Killerbee here. And I've added to that the DIY from @Nafe for RHD vehicles to the same thread. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23864 As mentioned to plug it completely (blue TRD option effectively) you can do it from inside the cabin by moving the carpet and locating it in the firewall according to @lazyluka - haven't looked myself. . |
If you want to block it completely, you can block it up, or do what other people have done and block it up near the air box. Much easier.
I managed to get a red tube from @nzer and I noticed it was the stock tube without any foam. What I did was I installed it, but on the days when I want a bit of a quiet ride, I can just plug it up from the inside of the car. On our RHD car's it's a PAIN to swap it over so that's alot easier for me. |
I have tried all the tube configurations.. s im enjoing blue atm.

i'll put my name in for a group buy
