Odd Laws/No access to premium fuel?
I see people on here stating they can't put certain modifications on a car. What's with that? Seems like California mostly.
Also, I have 93 everywhere I've lived, some people don't? |

California is one of your nation's largest states and is home to over 38 million people, which is more than all of Canada! The state that comes closest is Texas at a mere 20 million. Given it's climate, population density, various industries and one of the nation's largest car ownership pollution is a BIG concern. One of the ways in which the California state government is combatting this pollution is by restricting car emissions. Therefore car tuning in California is under strict supervision. |

I've been to California many times, I just have never lived there. I know they have huge environmental concerns but I didn't know they had laws on the books that they could impound your car if you had unapproved modifications. That's pretty extreme.

So that's why "Pimp my ride" never touched the shitty stock engines eh?

The irony is that the California Air Resource Board(CARB) mandated the lower octane premium for emissions. I read one of the many studies on it awhile back where it was discussed. The smog there can be really bad due to all the valleys and sheer volume of vehicles. Even San Francisco will get a yellow haze after rush hour traffic.
There are some E85 stations for people willing to look around and drive farther. California has a good bit of farming and the CARB has been favorable in the past about promoting E85 pumps. Plus they have high gasoline prices and numerous flexfuel vehicles. |
