Summer FT86 camping trip to Oregon coast?

Gauging interest...
I was thinking about getting a few camping tent sites at Cape Lookout near Tillamook Oregon this summer (June or July or Aug). Thinking it would be fun to make it into a FT86 trip where we would meet somewhere central like Cascade Station near the PDX airport on a Saturday morning and drive to the beach and stay for 1 or 2 nights as a group. There's a 2 car limit per site but they have overflow parking area that has tons of room and would be perfect if tons of people show up. For the people that didn't want to stay the night there is a large day use area next to the overflow parking area where we could have a big party if lots of people showed up or just party on the beach. :) Or if a handful of people showed up we could just get everyone around one campsite fire.

Obviously I wouldn't want to conflict with the big megameet that @DarrenDriven is organizing.

@Chen could be in charge of bringing all the OSU hotties. ;)

We could also just pick a date and tell everyone to hop on the website to reserve online ($17 but vets are free) and reserve a tent site, but the procrastinators will lose out since sites start disappearing quick in the next month or two.

We could do a Mount Hood camping trip also.

I've been known to come down with a case of yellow fever from time to time. ;) My fevers run in all kinds of colors. :happy0180:

Some of the Norcal Brethren might be adventurous enough to make the haul to the Oregonian's coast.. :D

Kensurs 02-06-2013 01:44 PM

BanzaiZee 02-06-2013 02:54 PM

Any local B&Bs close by? Lol but srsly..

Touge_ninja 02-06-2013 03:05 PM

I got a 4 room tent I can bring

stockysnail 02-06-2013 05:25 PM

My tent is supposedly an 8 person tent that I'd be bringing.

Chen 02-06-2013 05:45 PM

Rent out the whole site! Its like a mini golden gaurdens meet! But I think I have a 4 person tent. Question. Is it 17 bucks for the site or is it 17 bucks per person on the site?

Touge_ninja 02-06-2013 06:16 PM

Initial d style.....sleep in the cars

m.box.design 02-06-2013 07:03 PM

how about we make this the final destination of the nw megameet?

$17 per site per night which includes 2 car max per site. Extra cars are $5 per night for overflow. Some of the larger camp sites can handle 2 large tents. Smaller sites less obviously.

That may be a good idea. Thoughts @DarrenDriven?

Otterbrawten 02-09-2013 12:19 AM

I might be down, but I'm bad at commitment. What is the campground name?

I was thinking the same thing. This event sounds like a blast if properly organized. :respekt: I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.

Chen 02-09-2013 03:20 AM

According to Google Maps, about 10 hours lol. If it was just a couple of us going up there I don't think I'd go but it depends how big this event gets.

tech4pdx 02-11-2013 01:48 AM

I'd be down

stockysnail 02-13-2013 04:57 PM

I'm going to try to plan everything out in the next few days (date, drive out, etc) that way everyone will be able to snag up camp sites before they start disappearing in the next few weeks/month.

After that I'll see if any sponsors or swag donations could be added to the event to make it even more fun.

Chen 02-21-2013 02:25 PM

Been talking to some of the norcal folks. They seem pretty interested. might be a bigger turn out than expected.

Vicious LED 02-21-2013 02:29 PM

If this blows up, Vegas86 would be down! Keep me in the loop :D

Chen 02-21-2013 02:45 PM

I'll call it something different so that Darren can have his thing. Perhaps 86 summer camp n drive?
