Great vids.... I want to try ice racing, but right now I'm sticking to track days and rallyx.

I've never understood how you ice racers aren't bumping into each other. With the hacks that show up at events, there's bound to be someone who drives way above their skill.

So how do you keep people from crashing into each other?

RazBRZ 02-07-2013 06:33 PM

Well that was my first event, but most of the guys were really nice and helpfull. They gave me a lot of advice and told me who and what to watch out for (certain drivers and always try to pass of the inside because people tend to over drive and push wide{I demonstrated that a few times}). There was a small incident that day when an old MR2 looped it and got tagged for minor damage. Basically as you can see in the videos. I tried being very careful in traffic, look around constantly, and watch the corner flaggers. I got lucky and we had a great group of guys that day and we didn't have any issues

what tires are you using?

Sportsguy83 02-07-2013 06:56 PM

That's nuts..

ftc~brz 02-07-2013 07:22 PM

that looks so fun and so scary all at the same time! mad props to you for giving it a go!

Dipstik-sportech 02-07-2013 07:28 PM

Yeah what kinda tires?? I ice race up here and we have a rubber tire and a studded tire class, more info http://www.iceracingthunderbay.com/. I've only ever done a photo-shoot drift fest on ice with other subies, I'd be nervous with that many other drivers.

Wheel to wheel ice racing?! That's insane.

was385 02-07-2013 07:58 PM

Stock tires?

I kid

Spaceywilly 02-07-2013 08:01 PM

Awesome... I've been meaning to make it to one of these in my wrx.

RazBRZ 02-07-2013 09:42 PM

We have 2 classes Nokian Hakkapeliitta 7's and Bridgestone Blizzak WS70's
I was running the Hakka's.
I was nervous at first, but... Once that helmet goes on and the race starts I have one mission, win and I forget about the consequences . Unfortunately with RWD on ice, that is a hard task.
It's so much fun though, especially with the challenge of other cars to watch out for. I'm glad everyone enjoyed the vids

Dipstik-sportech 02-07-2013 09:51 PM

Oh wow an all rubber series. Don't you guys worry with not having roll cages and brand new cars?

Doborder 02-08-2013 03:02 PM

This is awesome.. really teaches you about traction and how to countersteer!
