Dealer reviews and ratings for service

As I am new to MI/Great Lakes area, I was wondering if the BRZ/FR-S owners can throw some light on their dealer experiences regarding servicing their cars.

Any whitelist/blacklist dealers?
Any experience with Dunning Subaru (Ann Arbor) as I am planning to take my car there for service.

I thought this might be a good unified thread to post our experiences.

According to Dealer Rater (http://www.dealerrater.com/directory/Michigan/Subaru/ ),

Dunning Subaru of Ann Arbor, MI, Fort Wayne Acura Subaru, IN and
The Autobarn Subaru of Countryside, IL have good reviews and review count (the review scores are for both sales and service).

I purchased my car from Page Toyota in Southfield and they were an absolute pleasure to work with. I also went recently to Serra Toyota in Farmington Hills to have the car serviced and they were likewise fantastic. Both places were extremely friendly, profession and helpful. Two for two so far.

copied and pasted this from my posting at the dealer whitelist posting. I actually bought mine from Suburban Subaru in Troy but thats only because they had the one i wanted available immediately. All my other subarus ive bought in MI, ive got from hodges.

I wouldnt recommend Suburban for servicing. Had a few issues with their service department (if you want details, PM me) thats why i take mine to hodges for major stuff. Minor i just do myself.

State: MI
Town: Ferndale
Dealer: Hodges Subaru

Sales: Chuck
Service: Jeff
Story: Extremely efficient and really take care of their customers. We had a few issues with our Tribeca and because it was in the shop for a while, they actually paid one of my BRZ car payments as a "thank you". Paid $500 UNDER MSRP for my BRZ. Service techs great. Did some repairs on my BRZ suspension and couldnt have been happier with how they treated my car.

I would Blacklist St. Charles Toyota & Scion in Illinois

They know nothing about the car what so ever and their excuse to me in October when I bought it was that the car was too new. Apparently 4-5 months is not enough to learn about one car... That said their service department is subpar, the advisers can be okay but generally speaking they just aren't friendly and come off a bit shady. I'd recommend going to the Naperville Toyota instead.

I went to Dunning Subaru in Ann Arbor for my 3750 mile service. Turns out their BRZ service specialist Josh also took care of Car&Driver and Automobile BRZ short term and long term test cars. Both C&D and Automobile are based in Ann Arbor.

Josh was a pretty cool guy and seemed appreciative of the fact that I printed out a list of TSB's and things that needed a look.

I would recommend Dunning Subaru and Josh because he seems to know what he is doing and he had worked on BRZ's before. Plus, he seemed very knowledgeable about the TSB's, forums and autocrossing and he drives a NA Miata!

They ordered a bunch of parts for me (GPS, taillights, HPFP) and I have to go back for another appointment to get them setup.

It's a long way to drive to get a service done (80 miles) but peace of mind is worth a lot more.

Oh I forgot the funniest part of my story, I got the CEL/TL combo and after a week, mysteriously, the TL light turned off and then the CEL light turned off too! I got it checked by the dealer and they say the onboard computer did not record an event!!!

GHOSTS?!

Not for the FR-S but for the Tacoma I've gone to Dunning Toyota and I would highly recommend them to anyone

POSITIVE:
I purchased my car from Evanston Subaru and went in for its first service last week. The service department was fairly average, but I'll continue to go back because my sales guy (Omar) was and continues to be a great person to work with. I wanted to come in last minute to get an oil change and although it looked like it would've been impossible to get done without me waiting 5+ hours, I was able to walk away in less than 1. Plus it's always nice when you can talk about modding cars with the guy you bought it from. :)

I did not end up buying the Whiteout FR-S I had on hold from Schaumburg Toyota/Scion, and honestly I felt bad about it because I had such a good sales experience with Justin. He was friendly and right off the bat was helpful in answering all of my questions. He even pulled the Whiteout into the showroom to show me how it looked under light since it was so overcast when I came to check it out.

NEGATIVE:
I would red flag both Schaumburg Napleton Subaru and Arlington Scion - for possibly the worst sales experience I have ever witnessed and for not even attempting to talk to me at the dealership for all 45 minutes I was there respectively. The sales guy at Napleton (Rich?) had such a blatant disregard for what I told him I wanted and was pushing me to give him an answer on price immediately saying that he wouldn't exert any more effort in this deal unless I was able to do so.
