I'm just amazed that we don't have something similar or worse in the US.
|
I would think this is something that could be toggled on/off by the dealer using their programming equipment (techstream?). The problem is getting them to do it, or finding a tech who is savvy enough to figure it out. I had a '99 Ford Ranger that I bought as a demonstrator in 2000 and it did this...drove me nuts. I had 3 different dealers try to figure it out before one tech was able to find the right place in the programming to shut it off. I don't envy you...that was one of my most annoying automotive experiences ever.

I'm fairly sure this is something that can be changed with techstream. You can buy a cable online and download the software (I believe there is a link somewhere on the forums) and just change the option yourself. Although there is no guarantee that it is even configurable...

I looked through the fuse box under the dash and in the bay and couldn't find anything helpful. It wouldn't be so bad if it started at 140kph, but 90% of my daily drive is 120kph. 20 minutes straight of *DING* *DING* *DING* is beyond annoying!

Kind of off topic but but maybe the speed chime is because of stuff like this?
How often does stuff like this really happen? Can't tell if its for real it looks like a highway of sorts but people are lined up and down watching. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZg2baj-VsU"]SAUDI car drifting video by ABRAR BHATTI - YouTube[/ame] |
Since Toyota has only one dealer in the UAE we are sh!t out of luck. They have come back and said it is required by law. Problem is my Tahoe makes one "ding" and that is it. My Z3 did not make any sound. Seems like Japanese cars keeps in "dinging", US cars makes one "ding" and European cars no sound.
So with the dealer being as useful as always (read useless) the next step is to take the instrument cluster apart and fin the little speaker and kill it. Seems like other Toyota's have it installed on the instrument cluster so it is the next logical place to start. I have bought and used the Techstream cable you can order from China but that is very limited. |

More over Do you know that Warranty Validity linked with the Service to be done with this Dealer ?? On Fact they charge Dh 1500 only for Oil Filter Change ?? for this car and when asked them they say we use oil from Japan for this Car ??? Is there a Subaru dealer you can try in UAE? Maybe they're more helpful.

In my AE86, it has a chime like this. It comes on when I reach 105 km/h. It is a small box that is plugged to a harness. Looks more like a relay switch. The harness was located in the center console under the radio unit. Hope that gives you some kind of idea.
