Finally! My SSM BRZ - Doing it right, right from the start! NewCarPrep+OC+Clear Bra

Hi everyone! Chris here.

Well, after waiting 208 days, I have FINALLY taken delivery of my Sterling Silver Metallic BRZ (Base) this past Thursday. Still in the honeymoon phase. :happyanim:

Like many of you who are waiting for their cars, I was constantly thinking whether or not to get certain things done or what can wait.

So I just said SCREW IT! Just do it right and do it now. Here's how my past 3 days went:

Thursday:
-Snowed south west of Toronto, but was clear up north. Picked up the BRZ. Drove ever so carefully on summer tires to Simply Tire. I went with Continental ExtremeWinterContact tires on my OEM wheels.
-Went home and installed JDM Frameless Mirror & JDM Exhaust Tips.

Friday:
-Took it to Kevin @ GTA In Detail for a New Car Prep and OptiCoat 2.0.
(Full Interior/Exterior Detail + OptiCoat 2.0 on pretty much the whole exterior minus the tires)

-Also, had Marco @ Advanced Mobile Group do a custom install of Paint Protection Film (3M Ventureshield).
(Full Bumper/Hood/Fenders, Headlights, Partial Roof/A-pillars/Rockers/Trunk Lip)
-Learned the hard way on my previous car which was Black. Had a huge chip on the hood within the first week I had it. Took too long to decide whether to install a clear bra which would've saved my paint. :bonk:

Saturday:
-Left the car overnight to ensure everything was done properly. This would allow sufficient time for everything to cure while keeping it away from the elements. Didn't want to rush a job like this, so I didn't mind waiting until next day.
-Picked up the car at 3pm looking so fresh and so clean.

If you're looking for quality work in Mississauga/GTA, these are the guys to go to. I've been going to Kevin for 3+ years and he really knows his stuff and his work speaks volumes. Kevin even offered to debadge my trunk. Also, walked me through the OptiCoat application process and washed my sorry looking rubber mats until my WeatherTech FloorLiners arrive in the mail. I just met Marco on Friday but after watching him work most of the day first hand, he really takes the time to make sure everything is lined up, precisely cut and installed correctly. Even wrapped all of the edges out of view for max coverage. I admit I was nervous when I saw him using the blade but there is not 1 scratch. Both explained their processes well and answered all my questions. Very cool guys to deal with.

Anyway, here are some pics of my car since then... (sorry, all iphone pics)

Can you PM me what those additions such as the detailing and clear bra cost you?

Oh yeah and what did you pay for those tips and where can I get them?

A good opticoat is anywhere from $400-500.

Clear Bra's are around $300-500.

PPF depends entirely on how much coverage you do. Some folks do ~24" up the hood/fenders, which is in the $~350 range. You can add full bumper, lights, rockers, a-pillars, roof, or like the OP do full front end coverage (*full* hood/fenders as opposed to partial)... It all depends what you want to cover, and of course the cost goes up accordingly.

Can I ask where you got the JDM mirror from and how much it cost?

the clear bra would cost more than the detailing and opticoat
detailing and opticoat for a new car like that shouldn't be more than $400 tops. the car is really small. anymore and youre really overpaying.

the PPF would cost more as it isnt a kit, and instead its custom cut with no seams. he also got roof, and trunk and a pillar coverage also.

cocoy_labuyo 02-14-2013 01:48 PM

is there a shop you can recommend here in Calgary that installs clear tints? I can't seem to find a shop with a decent price. I'd like to have the full front as well with the clear bra
