people are unusually nice on this forum
 

I can't tell whether it's just a sign of the times, where people have more etiquette in electronic media, or if it's just that FR-S/BRZ drivers are somehow nicer than most people (probably unlikely) or if the nicer people end up setting the tone in a lot of the threads or something else...

But I'm continually surprised by the civil and generally kind responses that people give in threads that would normally (in other car forums I used to be a part of) generate all sorts of bashing or hate or mockery.

A few pricks are starting to pop up. But as previously mentioned in other threads, since the car is so new it is only enthusists who own them at the moment

I have found it to be totally opposite. There are a bunch of a**holes with their attitudes.

I would generally agree. The most annoying are the ones responding with search messages..if this keeps going the search feature will be useless.. search-ception

Things have been sliding down hill a little since I joined and yes, I really get a chuckle out of the search nazis. This forum has been around long enough that most, if not all, topics have been discussed at one time or another. As it happens, we get new members who haven't been aware of previous conversations and they will ask questions that have been talked about before and the next thing you know is they're being shot down for not doing a search. If we used the search feature the same way we use Google that would pretty much be the end of new postings and this forum would dry up pretty fast.

But...they don't seem to get that.

There are a lot of people on this forum who contribute useful info, and also a lot of people who genuinely want to help anyone with a question. Of course any forum will have its share of asshats who get some sick joy out of being mean on the boards, but this forum has been in my experience one of the better ones so far. As this car gets more and more exposure though the more likely it will be that the forum will decline. I have always enjoyed forums for niche vehicles...the twins definitely started out as such, when I owned my Aprilia RSV4 those forums were awesome because the bikes were rare and most people who owned them were older with more experience riding them. The younger the target audience of a vehicle the worse the forums, seems to be the general rule but like I said, so far these forums are pretty good and a lot of useful information is available.

The community here seems nice enough to me. I would like to think that our shared enthusiasm for the car is a reason enough to be civil to everyone.

That being said, you guys all suck. :D
