Extended warranties/maintenance - mail what did you go for if anything

After finally evaluating my bill, I realized just how much I paid for extended warranties and service plans, and I started wondering if it was all worth it. I plan on keeping the car for a long time; however, I don't know if all the extra was worth it.

The interior/exterior protection for 1000 seems worth it as I can see my paint/interior possibly deteriorating within 7 years, but I'll probably cancel the guidepoint installation, and I'm not sure about the extended service plans.

Just curious what everyone else went with(out), and why.

i didn't get any extended warranty. your paint is unlikely to deteriorate in 7 years if you maintain it like a normal person with care.

do you have a garage for your car? do you know how to wax? if so, then your exterior will be fine. What's there to protect for the interior?

I consider those things snake oil. I have owned my own car since 1952 and have never purchased a warranty of any kind on any product whether it's car, motorcycle, home appliance or what. There is enough worry about problems to cause these warranties to be very tempting and yes, occasionally we hear horror stories where someones extended warranty saved them from having to mortgage their homes to make unexpected repairs. Again, just enough stories to tempt us to buy the product. The way I look at it is in 60 years I probably saved enough money that my FR-S was free.

I suppose it may have been that paranoia that caused me to say yes to all of them. It's just I've dealt with scratches and my dash cracking in the past (it wasn't garaged for the last part of its life). I just loathed the thought of something similar happening to the FRS.

I can still cancel the service on them, but the ding guard still sounds somewhat legit. The extebded maintenance plans confuse me more than anything.

I got a 9yr/100k warranty. I drive about 20k a year and I got mine from the first batch off the boat back in may. I talked them down on it, plus it includes towing for that whole time, which is 100/year saved off AAA that I don't need now.
