Just thinking about how cool a 911 engine would be in an 86/FR-S/BRZ. Especially something out of a GT3.
I'd love to know if anyone has plans along these lines.

Thematically curious, maintaining the boxer engine configuration. It won't be a drop-in of course. Even if the engine fit, you'd likely need a bell-housing adapter, and of course an entirely new wiring harness + ECU. Dash communication may be difficult too. The result may harm the weight balance of the car, but it would be an interesting experiment

True as far as the general configuration AFAIK, (I'm not an expert), but the Carerra chassis has been so well developed and refined over the years that its tough to beat..

By continuously polishing a turd of an idea [rear engine], you can eventually approach the inherent goodness of a haphazardly executed good idea. The Boxster and Cayman are wonderful chassis, but Porsche is politically biased to keep the 911 as its halo car, despite its inherent flaw. If they put the same resources into the Boxster/Cayman, they'd likely be on par with the 458 Italia and MP4-12C for significantly less money. Don't misconstrue that I'm dissing the 911; it's still a wonderful car for what it is; just like there are some really great front-drive cars.
