Opticoat detailing gone bad.
I have a serious issue here. I took delivery of my FRS and had an appointment set to get some detailing and opticoat put on--like most people on this forum. The plan was perfect. My precipitating fault was my shitty location. I live in Indio, CA; there are NOOOOOO opticoating detailers, or detailers in general, here. I went with a company (leaving name blank because I will be disputing this work) that subcontracts their work and I was paired with a detailer that seemed nice enough, but my job came out terrible. The pictures advertised on the website of opticoat jobs looked so similar to the great work I've seen from members here on this forum; my FRS came out so bad though. So terrible that I think my car is worse off than it was when I picked it up from the dealership. There is a large circular scratch on the drivers side door and there is still blue clay on the edge of my 3M clear bra.

Interested in seeing how opticoat can go bad...did they not paint correct it before they applied it?

Your images are linked directly to your GMail account. That won't work -- host them someplace and link us to them.

in for pics.

interested to see whether or not this is improper / inadequate prep & paint correction or improper coating installation
If its improper coating application (leftover 'high spots') that can likely be fixed pretty easily (optimum recommends "opti seal" worked lightly) If its lacking in the paint correction department then you're in a bad spot because the defects are now below the coating pics will help. preferably in direct sun |
There has to be a reputable detailer in at least the general vicinity. It may require a drive but it'd probably be worth it. Have you tried posting on autopia.org, live2detail.com, autogeek forums etc? You may find someone who can do it properly.
Edit; not sure if you can see this, but it's a good directory. http://batchgeo.com/map/454101e61684...99108f8312d158 Still looks like you're a couple hours from most guys but may be worth it. |
i guess the lesson here for other people here is always go with a detailer that members on this forum recommend. dont take the risk trying out new guys.
