Brake fluid leak..
 

My car has 8500+ miles in odometer and I got fluid leak in the rear passenger side break area? really?! Brought it in the dealer to have my warranty work on it. Will be leaving it there and wait until tomorrow for any news. I saw the leaking part in the back part of the caliper. hopefully it get fixed right away. :( who else had this problem here?

Did the pedal go soft?

BRAKE.. Not a big deal but totally different meanings. Things like this can happen with any car and as long as it is under warranty you will come out on top.

Update! Just to give a thought of what's going on. I changed my springs and did it carefully.

My claim: Leak on the back part of the caliper (banjo bolt). I can see leaking in that area.

Their answer: They can't claim under warranty because stating that it is caused by an impact from a material (there saying that it is due to the strut assembly? stating because they saw a scratch marks)

Statement saying that it is my fault? (Can't even remember that I hit any of those brake parts when I was replacing my springs)

Now they want me to pay almost $200 for that part to be fixed.(replace banjo bolt seal washers & bleeding line)

I won't pay a fix that it is not even me that caused it. sigh..

sorry about that.. they don't want to claim it under warranty because they are saying they see scratches in the strut assembly that they assume it got hit by it. :eyebulge: Woooow.. I can't believe it! (I have aftermarket springs installed) I'm not stupid enough to hit something that i know myself will be a problem if i do hit it and that I'm careful enough doing things. Claim denied from the dealer I got my car. :(

That is a 50 cent washer. You can bleed the line yourself. Bottle of brake fluid isn't expensive either.

Thanks! yeah. I got a shop/friend that is willing to do it for me w/o any charge. Well I can do it but he offered. It's just so disappointing (again) on what I experienced w/ that dealer. It showed how that dealer deal w/ this new platform that Toyota put out. They themselves w/ that service is ruining it IMO. I'm not going back there w/ my car.

Dealers will always be the weak point. It's entirely possible you bumped the line and did something; a tire tech must have done so when I got my winters mounted on my wrx last year as I had the same problem. Dealer wanted to sell me a new caliper and line so I just replaced the lines with stainless ones I had laying around. No more weeping after that. They're always trying to make a buck...

Car will get fixed today but as I drive my car I'm constantly checking my brake fluid when I stop where I'm going to be cautious. But yeah they will try to make a buck out of something and the thing is warranty is still the same though? they will be reimbursed anyway? I just can't remember that part getting hit when springs got installed.
