Motiv Concepts Cat-Back Prototype
Hey all,
It's been a while since we've updated everyone on our progress with our exhaust system, and certainly many people have been inquiring about it. The reason why we've been taking so long is that we've been testing different muffler designs to get the sound the way we expect people will want. Our axle-back prototype that we did for the Meguiar's FR-S was certainly a little too loud for my personal tastes, so we went back to the drawing board and tried out a couple of different designs. This is the one we are really confident people will be happy with in terms of performance and sound: http://www.motivconcepts.com/tmp/brz...rototype-1.jpg http://www.motivconcepts.com/tmp/brz...rototype-2.jpg http://www.motivconcepts.com/tmp/brz...rototype-3.jpg http://www.motivconcepts.com/tmp/brz...rototype-4.jpg By using a larger body muffler design, it keeps the sound where I personally believe people will be happy. It's not too loud, not too quiet, but a real nice deep tone. And similar to other European exhaust systems we have built for other customers, it will have a slip-fit to connect the midpipe to the muffler, and the tips will be fully adjustable so you can get it where you like it. We are going to be taking this exhaust to the dyno shortly to make sure the performance numbers are where we want them to be. Once that's settled, we'll have pricing info. We did this setup on our personal project car with our overpipe, HFC, non-resonated midpipe and it sounds amazing. I think you guys will really like it once it's ready. I'll be sure to post up videos of the car on the dyno with just the cat-back, and then with the overpipe, HFC, and cat-back so people get a good idea of how it sounds. |
perfect ! nothing to add //thread

I'll do some videos with the Overpipe and Test Pipe also whenever you get ready to send me one. :)

So, you guys designed this one for a true Lotus-esque diffuser...
Tell me that's on the drawing board! |
Hope that this is in the Invidia n1 price range

It's unfortunate, but it's what we do to maintain the quality of any product that has our name on it! |

You gotta pay to play. I have the overpipe and HFC pipe and they are well worth the price of admission.
Jason, sent you guys an email for something custom. |
I like the design. I like that it's made here.
My only question... being that this is a center entry/side exit exhaust, depending on how you built the center mixing chamber, it could be a location that collects a lot of heat. I don't have xray vision but can you confirm this will not be the case? This is what happened to my last exhaust that had a similar layout. http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...111_175431.jpg |
any plan for resonated midpipe ?

We have built exhaust systems for some well-respected race cars, so our knowledge and experience is pretty extensive in this department. When we build our next one, I'll try to take some photos of the inside. |

Obviously if someone *really* wants to use a cheapo resonator, we'll be more than happy to oblige. But it's not something we'll be recommending or trying to sell. Quite honestly that's the reason why we tinkered so much with muffler designs and tried several different ones before settling on this larger one. It allows our customers to have a non-resonated midpipe without it being too loud. |
Will you guys offer just the axle back?
