New Car Prep w/ Opti-Coat 2013 Scion FR-S Mr. Sparkle Detailing - Long Island
Client in question was a victim of Hurricane Sandy. His Scion TC took on water during the storm and was a total loss. In an effort to take lemons to lemonade, he invested his insurance check towards an asphalt gray Scion FR-S. Now thats thinking with your dipstick! (anyone else remember those castrol commercials?)
Upon arrival the car was pretty dirty as we had a recent snowfall. So we started with a foam bath. The wash was followed by Iron x treatment http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/...psa09015fb.jpg The car was clayed with Pinnacle Ultra Poly clay. Even for a vehicle only recently purchased it still showed signs of contamination. This is from the trunk lid and rear of the car http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/...psfadc51c4.jpg Paint measurements were then taken and this car showed a wide range of numbers. Of particular concern was the hood close to the front bumper. This area was thin with readings between 80-90 microns http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/...ps322b0072.jpg http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6075d488.jpg After taping off the trim it was time for the paint correction. The vehicle showed only light marring and a 1 step polish was in order. With the light defects and metallic paint it was tough to photo accurately. this area had not yet been polished as shown here under an LED flood light http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8407c2a5.jpg the adjacent area along the door edge had been polished http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/...ps92ca609f.jpg Along the roof a sirius satellite radio antenna had been held in place with a magnet. This left behind some deeper scratches which required spot compounding. before http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/...psc630a6df.jpg After http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5c518732.jpg We later relocated the antenna onto the rear glass with double sided tape. "Hands on the wheel" Polishing under LED lights with Flex 3401, Lake Country Tangerine pad and Menzerna Power Finish http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0b36e8c1.jpg Once the paint was proper it was washed again, dried, and wiped down with Car Pro Eraser. All exterior paint & trim was then protected with Opti-Coat along with the wheels. Post Opti-Coat http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/...ps978ce21b.jpg http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/...ps785d186b.jpg http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/...ps17176e85.jpg exhaust tip was also was cleaned and protected with Opti-Coat http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/...ps006540cf.jpg Crisp reflection of the LED spotlight x3 http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/...psfa458084.jpg Extreme closeup on the hood http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/...psa92febf9.jpg Proudly serving Long Island and FT86 club! www.MrSparkleDetailing.com 31 Eads St. Unit #E - West Babylon You can also stay up to date on whats in the Mr. Sparkle garage by following me on instagram @mrsparkledetailing |

Looks good! I'll see you tomorrow!
By the way, where does all the water/suds go after you're done washing? Or do you have a separate wash bay? |
Nice job Bryan. I have one of those containment mats as well. Slippery as hell!!
