OSGiken vs. KAAZ Super Q LSD
Hi everyone,
I have always been a fan of KAAZ since back in the day when I had my AE86. But now I see so many good reviews about the OSGiken LSD. But now im torn between the OSGiken and KAAZ 2 way Super Q LSD.The fact that OSGiken LSD's have never failed, are quiet, and require little to no maintenance are a plus. The high initial price tag ($1,600) is not attractive but I figure it will save costs in the long run because of the low maintenance. I had a KAAZ 2 way in my AE86 and that thing locked up nicely but was a little loud. Now they offer the Super Q which looks even more attractive plus they last longer than the regular diffs they sell. The price tag is OK (around $1,200) but the fact that they still require regular maintenance and eventually a rebuild is a minus compared to the OSGiken. I wonder which LSD you guys prefer and you opinions/experiences with the two. My purpose would be drift and occasional autoX. I would like to see how strong the lock up is in the OSGiken compared to the KAAZ 2 way. If they are the same I figure the high initial cost of the OSGiken would eventually pay for itself in the maintenance costs of the KAAZ diff. What do you guys think? Your opinions and suggestions would be appreciated. Mike |

Hey, why you excluded wonderful Cusco Type RS Spec-F LSD? I've just ordered mine and plan to love it even more than the "older, classic" Type RS ( without the Flat Friction disks ). Just interesting, why no CUSCO, when it's amazing and rock reliable? http://www.aj-racing.com/shop/image.php?type=D&id=1750 |
I had a KAAZ in my S14 back in the days, I drove it around 70,000 miles and a lot of drift days, I just changed the oil as often as I changed the engine oil, and it worked great.
I can't say about the reliability for the OS Giken or Cusco, but they're all going to be high quality for sure. |
Looking forward to what people come back with here.
How about we chuck the TRD 2way in as well. Always been a favorite of the Supra boys. i've only heard several bad things about them but im sure that was because of poor maintaine from the owners. |
How strong is the stock LSD? Im interested in making the rear strong for hard launches.
|
I think for stock motor, the stock LSD should handle for drag launches. If you are hardcore lapper or have force induction setup, a clutch plate LSD will work out much better for grip.

To me, if you're committed to spending $1200.00, an additional $400.00 for the benefits doesn't seem like much of a stretch. But that kind of thinking can get you into trouble too haha!

To me KAAZ is like your favorite beer, you keep using it and going back to it because it just works.

im using kaaz and 600hp rated dss axles at the moment looks like its not a good combination due to my diff oil is leaking.
|
I upgraded to a Cusco 1.5 RS from the OEM torsen about 2 years ago and it works great and has been bulletproof.
|
I run cusco type rs spec F with 5.1 FD , it quiet and perform well for me .
