I'm a first time manny driver. So I had couple questions.
1: what mph do you switch to 5th gear? I usually switch at 40mph at 3000rpm but I feel like its a bit early?
2:when I first got my BRZ the clutch was super soft and I finally got the engagement point. But today when I drove it, my clutch was really firm and the engagement point seems a bit lower now. Is there something wrong with my clutch?

Drive it so you're always in the power band aka peak torque.

Keep it at 6000rpm.

It depends how you want to drive it. When I'm pushing the car I never shift up under 6k. When I'm just driving in mild traffic, I generally shift around 3k-3.5k

anyone having the same problems I am having with my clutch? My BRZ is at 150miles, and I'm thinking that the clutch is just starting to break in...any ideas?

I'm usually in fifth by ~35 MPH. If the terrain is hilly I generally delay my up shift until ~40 MPH.

In what I will describe as normal conditions (not going up hill nor down hill) I keep the rpm's between 2 and 3,000 rpm's. Of course that's in-city driving. Think more about your rpm's than the speed you're traveling. For example, you could be going up a rather steep hill in 5th gear at 40 mph and be putting too much of a strain on your engine. Keep your rpm's above 2,000 and you should be fine.

It's a lot like riding a bicycle with derailleurs. You can be zipping along just fine in a particular gear but to maintain that same speed when you come to a hill you will put an awful strain on your legs if you don't gear down. Putting a strain like that on your engine is called lugging.

I wouldn't worry about your clutch, Its probably either your imagination, or your clutch just not slipping as much. Nothing to worry about.

Enable the shift up indicator and shift up when it tells you to unless you are going up a hill.

On a flat empty road I will shift up below 2000rpm to get good economy, but if there is lots of traffic I will keep the rev's higher to have better response.

Ugh...you may want to see a doctor about that. Otherwise, your answer in this thread is going to be something along the lines of "pretty shitty."
