Jacksonville FL, Cars and Coffee?

Do any of the FR-S or BRZ owners frequent the Jacksonville Cars and Coffee at Whiskey River? I may be relocating there soon and want to know where the import (as in Japanese) car owners gather. What other locations are the "hot spots" in town?

Disclaimer: I do not drive one of the twins. I drive the MR-S in my avatar.

I usually go the AA meets aka cars and coffee. There are a few of us that do go as well. There is usually a Thursday meet at Sonics on Philips Highway at 9. There is usually other meets on Saturday night. A new monthly/whenever meet on Friday at 3FX that a friend has started that has become popular.

How do our honorable Peace Officers treat you guys? Are they pretty cool about the gatherings or are they ready to pounce at the slightest provocation? I am an older guy so my days of confrontations with John Law are far behind me. I like to keep it on the down low and just enjoy the scene and the car people (of all ages).

If I get relocated as expected I will be sure to stop in to the sites you mentioned. Thanks.

I'm a huge part of the car scene around here, and don't worry about the police. I haven't seen the police interfere with anything (excluding saturday night Sonics, but you probably don't want to go there anyway) in years.

Kamui, do you ever come out to the Thursday meet? I haven't missed a meet in a few months and haven't seen a BRZ there, actually I lied! I remember seeing a black one there last week!

But the Cars & Coffee around here just relocated to Whiskey River, and had over 300 cars. It was a GREAT turnout for a new location. The next one is Feb 9th(I believe.) Although, I won't be going to it, I'll be going to the Rev Works anniversary.

Curious. Why is that?

From what I remember, it's the most well known place for these sorts of meet-ups. Lets just say Beach Blvd. is about 6 very straight miles of stoplights, and also very long and very straight highway is about a mile from Sonic.

But personally I haven't been down that way in 6 or 7 years, so the car scene might have matured.

P.S. Been seeing a lot of people from spyderchat getting FR-S/BR-Zs!

That's when all the "donks" and rednecks come out, do burnouts everywhere, cops kick us all out, etc.

It used to be a GREAT meet, and an awesome time. 100+ cars, but people started doing donuts on the lots next to it, running up and down the road, etc. Too many arrests and such, and the cops just cracked down on it.

Now it's nearly a ghost-town on Saturdays, but it should pickup again during the Summer.

Yeah, there are some who have defected and there are some who still have the Spyder and have added a FR-S or BRZ. That is understandable. Our cars are getting old and sometimes it is just nice to have a new "shiny" that comes with a warranty and all the modern amenities. I was tempted myself and went to Detroit last year to see the twins. After much thought, I put a 2ZZ-GE into the Spyder instead of getting an FR-S. Otherwise, it would have been a $25K purchase price plus another $3K-$5K in mods to get the car where I would want it.

OK. I prefer a little classier gathering. If we make the move, which looks very likely, then I will look for you around town. The MR-S will most likely stay in Ohio until April 13-14th. Spyderchat and Spyderweb members are doing the Dragon that weekend. I will fly back to Ohio and drive the car to Fontana to meet with them before continuing on to Jacksonville.

I was the black BRZ :D. I didn't go 2 weeks ago due to the flu. Other than that I haven't missed one in a month.

Leaving for Jacksonville in about 15 minutes. Should be there in about 12 1/2 hours. We will be house hunting. If I stay until Saturday then I may cruise around in my Caddy to check out the Friday night car events. If I see any forum memebers I will give ya a wave.

Have a safe trip down here and good luck on the hunt.
