How do you guys feel about lifted trucks?

I live in Flower Mound, TX. Every teenage douchebag has a lifted truck.

Last year, a lifted truck was parked next to my friends Mustang. Truck tried to pull out, was a dumbass, monster-trucked the mustang. Douchebag called his affluent father and his dad came over and told them to keep it "off the books", for insurance's sake. Friend gets fat check to fix up car from affluent father.

All is well right? NO.:mad0260:

These dumbasses lift up these trucks, make too much noise, hang fake testicles from their tow hitches, and are just all around douchbags. They don't actually do any sort of off-roading that might require the use of such a vehicle.

It makes me angry. I hate them all.

What about you guys?

CSSM 12-08-2011 12:02 AM

I agree, at my high school everybody who thought they were "cool" had one, and after school they would always rev up a bunch with their fart cans and zoom around like they owned the place. They would always take up two parking spots too. I saw a few collisions when these trucks were trying to park, I was even on the receiving end. They tried to squeeze into the spot next to me and I ended up with a nasty dent/scratch on the rear quarter panel. At least college isnt like that, I have gone all of college without a door ding

KaliKev 12-08-2011 12:18 AM

Stupid if it decreases off road use.

Neutral_Eyes 12-08-2011 12:20 AM

I don't mind if it serves a purpose, but the kind you're describing are certainly driven by douchebags. The few times I've been harassed on the road involved groups of kids in brodozers.

Guff 12-08-2011 12:29 AM

The thing is, I have seen some with dirt all over them, so I assume that the lift is practical, it's just that they are always pretentious douchebags that absolutely cannot drive, and are very rude to other drivers, and are perhaps compensating for their lack of wedding vegetables.

switchlanez 12-08-2011 01:02 AM

I grew up in socal (mostly around Asians) and the "cool" kids were always about slamming their car. Then I went off to a primarily white college. Met a white girl who digged my stock height Celica (yeah, chick car) because of how low it looked. She came from a town where everyone's about how high their trucks are lifted so this was different to her. Her town's definition of "cool" was hard to grasp for me. I know sounds racist but I don't mean to be. Guess it's a regional/cultural thing.

From then on, I understood lifting is a customization/image thing like how we drool at rims. But when I see a lifted truck I don't exactly drool at height.

I see where you're going, and I totally understand. But these lifter guys turn their cars into menaces to society!

If you slam your car, you might rub your body on the occasional road but at least you can see out! In these trucks, these guys can't see like 6 feet in front of them, because of how incredibly high up they are! And they end up running over a lot of things/fluffy animals/people! It's ridiculous.

And a small slammed japanese car still fits in a compact car space. A lifted trucker parks diagonally in like 3 spaces! :mad0260:

But now i'm just ranting...:sigh:

Edit: If switchlanez calculations are correct, when I pick up an AS1, I should be getting lots of ladies! SCORE! Too bad I can only fit 1 with legs and 2 without legs...

AE 12-08-2011 01:12 AM

Those ridiculous things wouldn't even be road legal over here.

I like Nuetral_Eyes' "BroDozers" too!

ahausheer 12-08-2011 02:03 AM

They should be illegal as they completely negate all safety laws and only idiot douche bags drive them. Also, to show how stupid Americans are: The best selling US vehicle, the Ford F series, which you would think is invaluable to society due to sales volume, is not even sold in Europe, why you ask, because they (F series not Europeans) are pointless!! In Sweden they are called ''City Trucks'' and that is a major insult over there because you don't need a truck in the city.

nrclptcnsmniak 12-08-2011 03:20 AM

"I just grab a bucket of dirt and throw it ontop of my truck to look legit" lol

anyways. I hate them. What I hate the most is when theyre lifted and have HIDs which shoot the light everywhere and because of their height it beams right into your eyes and blinds the crap out of you especially if they have additional lights. I really wish they were illegal here in CA for numerous reasons. They're such a safety issue especially with their heavy wheels and tires and lifted suspension when backing up or tailgating someone on the freeway.

And those FOX and DC stickers -__-*

RRnold 12-08-2011 03:44 AM

Word to the wise, don't hate on the vehicles, hate on the dudes who drive them.

Being from Socal, you've seem them all! Eses in low lows, flatbillers in lifted F150 and Ranger Prerunners, asians in ricers, squids on bikes etc.

I have a lifted Tacoma and I get the traditional shit talking about how my truck isn't a "real truck". I hate seeing the nutsack on the tow hitch. That has got to be the most dumbest thing you can add to your vehicle, especially with a dude driving it. The second most dumbest thing is the mustache on the front bumper and the eyelash on the headlights. :bs:

nrclptcnsmniak 12-08-2011 03:52 AM

^ I can hate on a vehicle when theyre backing up and dont see me because of their ride height or the annoying lights again because of ride height blinding me on the freeway. SOOO annoying

Cars don't drive themselves! ;)

I pulled up behind some dude in a lowered car and my headlights were pointing right at his rearview mirrors that I literally lit up the entire inside like a cop's spotlight.

The dude flipped me off so I switched to my parking lights until the lights turned green. Now that I'm older there is no need to sweat the small stuff.

The same can be said for those one lowered cars who take a minute to drive over a speed bump or the idiot who drives by a crowd during black friday reving by with his bov... oh wait, that's you Guff! Who's the douchbag now!

Doesnt matter if the car drives itself or not I dislike lifted trucks because of that reason. Youre saying lifted truck = douche but it can also be lifted truck = chill guy. Not all lifted truck peeps are douches. The topic states how do you feel about lifted trucks not how do you feel about the people that drive them. Its not safe to make general assumptions about a certain group of people.

I'm sure youre a chill guy but even you notice you light up peoples cars like a squad car. I would have been glad and thankful if your turned to your parking lights until it turned green. It shouldnt take an insult to get you to do it though. It really is a safety issue that is easily avoidable.

When I pull up behind a regular car (not lowered), they don't have that problem. To even up the discussion, don't lower your car so you won't get blinded.

My truck is only lifted 2.75" with the Donahoe/Icon front coilovers and add-a-leaf and Donahoe/Icon rear shocks. I've been on trails and took it offroading.

What I dislike in regards to lifted trucks is when they put the Procomp and Fabtech lifts. It lifts the truck high but leaves the axles near the stock height so you're not really gaining any ground clearance.

Hah! I wasn't revving! Just driving!

But you make a good point, I shouldn't generalize about a type of car because of their drivers.

I suppose then, this should be a thread about how much we hate douchebags who can't drive their car, be it raised or lowered.

But man it's hard not to stereotype people!!! :bellyroll:

ZetaVI 12-08-2011 06:39 PM

I live in NY so I hardly ever see a lifted truck. I don't like them personally. When I do see them they are clean and never seen dirt. Like they aren't used for any purpose but to look intimidating. But what do I know I'm a Yankee.

I bought mine when they were still called Donahoes but I think they changed the Icons after the "issue" and now offer them with external reservoirs. I just got my shocks serviced a local shop with new oil and charge. I would like to go longtravel but it's $$$.

I remember seeing some pics of your FJ. Do you have an aftermarket bumper on yours? I really wanted to with an Demello bumper. They look nice on the FJ and he made a newer one for the Tacomas.

This is the crap I imagine. Dumbasses with purple HID retrofit garbage in reflector housings, psuedo-offroad tires that would either pop a bead trying to do their job or allow the monochromatic high-dollar wheels to get scuffed up, can't-park-for-shit but that's totally because "I don't give a fuck!" and not that they just can't-park-for-shit.

Okay, so maybe that last bit wasn't exactly a sentence. I'm just reliving one of those ****wads backing into my B13 and totaling it.

meh some are cool

just hate it when they are lifted and have HID pointing directly into the rear view and then ride your ass while blinding you

Snoopyalien24 12-09-2011 12:41 AM

ugh I hate those people that taunt u and think they own the road because they drive skyscrapers. Here in South Fl, we obviously have many cubans, who dont drive much in cuba, and come here and all own duelys f350s, silverados, hummers, rams, etc, and thing they can do what thay want one the road. Usually when they are behind me, i drive realllyyy reeaaallllyyy slow, just to piss them off. hehe.

But if you have a purpose for it, then go ahead make them 15ft tall if u want. Just yesterday, outside of the DMV, a giant hummer backed up right into a Sentra.. idiot

My truck is a midsized and is only lifted 2.75". I get blinded by lifted F150's, Rams, Silverados, Sierra's headlights too. All rearview mirrors have either an auto or a manual switch, use it!

There are laws on how much you can lift your vehicle. If people want to take that risk, let them deal with it.

http://www.offroaders.com/info/tech-.../lift-laws.htm

The same thing can happen with a bus, a semi truck, a Uhaul truck, an RV etc! So anything that is bigger than your '93 Accord is a potential safety hazard right!!

My rearview mirror doesnt have a switch. And 2.75 inches I agree is not bad. I am not hating on your vehicle specifically.

And I think youre missing the point of this discussion. I simply stated that this is what I dislike about lifted trucks. I dont see how or why youre creating an argument as if my points arent valid.

And no I am not talking about size here. I am talking about ride height and how it blinds people and also the lack of visibility they have when backing up.... again youre using red harring.

i am not attacking you nor am i using the size of vehicles as my concern. can you please read what I write first. This is what I dislike about lifted trucks... its as simple as that. I am sure I can find a lot of people that agree with me. You dont have an argument.

ME: I dislike lifted trucks because they blind me and are a safety issue with visibility.

You: Dont lower your car (not lowered)
Use your rearview mirror switch (car doesnt have one)
There are laws regarding ride height (doesnt change the fact that I dislike them for blinding me)
Bus RV Semi Truck ... ( its not in comparison to my accord its in comparison to a pedestrian)

We went off in a tangent but my point is people customize their cars and do what every they feel. We could sit and go on all day but it just sounds so petty to hate on a lifted truck b/c it blinds you. I could understand if a truck was driving behind you on a single lane road and you had nowhere to go. Honestly how often are you behind a lifted truck for it to be that much of a issue, maybe at a stoplight for a minute.

Foto 12-10-2011 04:57 AM

Oh yeah... lifted diesel trucks run around everywhere here. It gets me. Yes some of them serve a purpose. But the rest of them are annoying prick wannabe "Holister" hoosiers. Yes I live in Missouri, but in the city I live of over 70k people with 2 other towns and unincorporated county all around, so well up toward almost 200k, this isn't a redneck area. It's all suburban and businesses. Yet you have these idiots in these lifted diesel rigs with stacks and the "dual whips" on the back. Can't forget the truck nuts. And yes, the people around here aren't actual rednecks, they're wannabes. Just because they have a truck and live in Missouri, they think they're rednecks. I owned a lifted Jeep Wrangler for a while, but I wasn't a doucher or acting like I wanted to be trashy. People and their trucks, something I don't get.. unless they have a lifted Toyota or Nissan.. then i approve because those people aren't total assdouches.

I actually like lifted trucks and pretty much anything modded. There are douche's in every hobby. It's not the trucks fault it's the person acting like a tool. I try to take people as they act and not judge before hand.

Yeah, sorry you have to deal with hicks. Our main problem over in NY are wanna be jersey Shore females speeding and talking on their phones.
