STI Pinks Springs

I purchased a set of STI springs. You'll need to order two of each Part Number.

ST20330AS000 (F)
ST20380AS000 (R)

I followed DarrenDriven's excellent DIY Guide and installed my STI Pink springs.

Some thoughts on the install:

They are supposed to lower the car 15mm.

You'll need a spring compressor to install the springs, because they're too long to not use a compressor. You can use his "shadetree method" to remove the springs.

I'll give you more of my impressions once I go for a nice drive, and the springs are settled.

Can't wait for your review. I'm debating between these or Eibach Pro or Swift. :)

Why did you decide on STI springs Over Aftermarket?

ZC6BRZ 01-27-2013 02:46 AM

Well, technically they're aftermarket. I went with STI Pinks because I had an '08 Forester XT Sports which came with pinks. I liked how comfortable yet well handling it was. STI products are definitely well thought out and well made. I'm not saying that others aren't, but I've had the best experience with STI parts on my previous 2 Subarus.

Also, I'm planning on keeping this car for a long time, so down the road, I figure all the STI bits will be cool to have.

It's a shame that STI doesn't make the spring rates public.

Too expensive for not enough of a drop. :( I love that pink though!

Do you think how much it drops is somehow related to price?

These are interesting me somewhat. Not super keen on the change to progressive front springs. Would be nice for an OEM-sideline like STI would produce OEM-like springs that would be perfect for the application.

It wouldn't surprise me if these are just re-badged Teins or something else from the region. Ford EU used to use Eibach for their 'RS' accessory springs. They were progressive too. :(

They look excellent! I am planning to do the same.

Just wondering where you purchased them? Japanparts.com or someplace in North America?

I don't think they're rebadged. STI has a habit of not doing that. The only springs that I know of that only drop 15mm are TRD and STI. STI (I'm guessing) has their OEM manufacturers make them for them. My guess is because STI seats in earlier WRX STIs were not Recaros, they were made by the OEM seat maker for FHI.

Neither. I travel frequently to Japan, so if it fits in my check-in, I bring parts back. I'm too cheap to pay for shipping. The only parts I couldn't fit were the STI front spoiler and side spoilers, so I had to Jparts them. :(

Even brought home a set of Regamasters :)

anyone know if these springs would work on an FR-S?
