Suggested drop?..
 

Hello all,

Thinking of lowering the scion (springs and aftermarket gas shocks) setup on 18x9 SSR's SP-1's. What is the suggested drop height for this size of wheel, without having to deal with rubbing or fender issues? Thanks for the feedback. Any information helps.

1-2". Depends on how much tire tuck. Look for a hot lava FRS in car member journals. Its about 2" its so clean

Their is no doubt in my mind of that lol...the last time I did a 2 in drop on a previous vehicle it settled in to about 2 1/2. The FR-S already sits low from factory. I think 2 even will be nice. I will need something that will settle in on just about 2 inches.

The Eibach Sportlines have the biggest drop as far as springs go, unless you want coilovers.

Yep, what Tim said. The sportlines will settle around 1.5 inches. You will be fine running those with an aftermarket damper like Koni. Here is the a guy on 18x9.5 +38 which is about the most aggressive you can get without messing with fenders.

I would not suggest lowering the car past 1" without an aftermarket damper, as you risk blowing the OE dampers. If you plan to stick with the OE stuff, your best bet for lowering springs will be Eibach Pro-kit or RCE yellow springs.

If you are looking for 2", your only options would be coilovers.

I planned on going with an aftermarket damper upon installation of the drop springs. 1.5'' looks very clean in the above link. This is ideal to how I would want mine to turn out. And yes! this does help. Thanks!.
