NW Megameet 2013?

Well, it's already the end of January. Spring and Summer will be upon us in no time! We should start gathering information on where and how we'll toss this event together! I know the folks from the Seattle area made a better showing to the meet than us folks down here in the PDX area. Should we fight for locale being biased towards the north or south?

Anyways, just getting the discussion rolling. :)

PNW FRS 01-25-2013 12:59 AM

Long beach, WA? Nice destination spot. Other car clubs do big meet-ups there. Kind of 1/2 way between SEA and PDX.

BanzaiZee 01-25-2013 01:02 AM

Ooh I'd LOVE to hit the coast! My man and I drove over to Ocean Shores after the last meet and it was great. We didn't get to cruise town much though since it was getting late..

wrohdejr 01-25-2013 01:03 AM

lol we can all drive out on the beach and get stuck in the sand. Although that would be a fun cruise. Have the guys from the north meet in Longview and the everyone train to long beach.

DarrenDriven 01-25-2013 02:11 AM

I've started the planning for the adventure part of the next Mega Meet. The scavenger hunt will be even more puzzlistic than last year! :)

So you've got the route planned already?! Do tell.

DarrenDriven 01-25-2013 12:14 PM

Not yet, this time the adventure will be location independent.

Chen 01-26-2013 01:52 AM

Any idea of when? I wanna make sure I get time off for this one!

Luke.Cariveau 01-26-2013 02:50 AM

I loved last year! Can't wait till this is a fully mature meet 3-4 years down the road when we all have forced inductions kits and everything =D

Touge_ninja 01-26-2013 03:03 AM

Gumball style rally :)

m.box.design 04-14-2013 06:11 PM

Summer is approaching soon. Let's find a route/location and sponsors!!!

Touge_ninja 04-14-2013 06:15 PM

Ocean shores BBQ then hit the town and party?

kioton32 04-14-2013 06:31 PM

What about the guys over here on the east side of WA and OR... That makes our trip to the ocean around 8 hours or so...

BanzaiZee 04-14-2013 07:21 PM

Post up some ideas then! I'm not to knowledgable about good drives in the PNW, otherwise I'd put up some suggestions....

I think the bulk of the owners are further west (Seattle and Portland). However last year's cruise was out to Raymond, WA.. which was fairly close to the ocean already, but not literally AT the ocean.

Perhaps we can do Mt. St.Helens or somewhere more biased towards the middle. Last year's meet started in Centralia, about mid-way between PDX and Seattle.

There can be many options. Really depends on what direction we want to go with this event. Seattle and Portland both have well known tuning shops, some of which may or may not accommodate our meets. We can also focus strictly on cruising, therein which we can then just choose a remote location to drive to and from.

I'm not sure about what routes there are in WA. But there are several cruising routes in OR. One that comes to mind would be driving around Mt.Hood from i84 to hwy 281/35 to hwy 26.

Wonderbar 04-14-2013 11:43 PM

I'm down, let me know ahead of time so I can figure out a babysitter and include my wife

m.box.design 04-15-2013 01:08 AM

geographically, Yakima looks to be the almost-middle city between spokane, portland, and seattle.

according to google maps:

pdx to yakima: 186 mi / 3hrs 11 min
seattle to yakima: 142 mi / 2hrs 13 min
spokane to yakima: 203mi / 3hrs 1 min

Wonderbar 04-15-2013 01:32 AM

Yeah... But yakistan is turrible.

i'll take your word for it. i don't even know what there is out there. :D
looks like spokantonians will have to suck it up and make the trek?

DarrenDriven 04-15-2013 11:24 AM

Guys, since I started an intense remodel of my house, it looks like I'm just not going to have the time to plan this out. I can still contribute a scavenger hunt aspect to the event, but someone else is gonna have to take the reigns.

I get to drive my car further and enjoy it longer? Deal.

In all honesty though you guys pick a spot and I'll get the time off to be able to make it. Doesn't matter to me if I have to drive for a while.

do you still have contacts with scion corp? would be great to get some free food or goodies this year.
i'd be willing to organize some of the event, but i don't have friends in high places.. so hookups would be few and far between. i know mr.hatch knows a lot of people, but he's getting his wedding together. Would be nice to have a place like PRE Racing do dyno shootout for the event, given that some people will be FI by then.

tonyfrs86 04-15-2013 08:23 PM

hey guys, im totally down for this if i can get the time off, just need to know when it is and where. is this just like a community drive or is it a meet up and event type of thing like going to a track or something like that?

last year we met up in centralia for some pizza provided by scion then a photo op, then we drove westward out to raymond ending with a prize raffle.

like i've mentioned before, i don't know what direction people want to go with this event. it could become something very legit or just something that remains casual. obviously nothing can be done FREE without the help and support of sponsors as well as some $$$ from attendees.

stockysnail 04-15-2013 09:41 PM

If you get a list of sponsors to contact send them my way as I'd like to do it for the PDX to the beach camping drive as well.

Here is my proposed route for the cruise portion:

stockysnail 04-16-2013 04:28 AM

Perhaps go a little further to this British Pub The Horse & Hound? I went there with the Lotus Club years ago. If we call ahead they will reserve their whole parking lot for us I'm guessing as that's what the Lotus Club did. After that we drove to Mt. Adams, but I'm unsure of the exact route.

I'm guessing the rest to the mountain was up 141 then Mt. Adams hwy, which is like this. It was a very pretty drive with Mt. Adams right there when I went. We had to turn around at one point as there was forest roads but we went hwy 14 on the Washington side back to PDX. There was a few good places to stop and take pictures as a group.

I know the feeling. I bought a new Evo 9 RS at one point. Money was a little tight because of it, especially when I lost my job 2 months later. Got a Lotus Elise after I found a job again (traded the evo 9 stupidly) and of course that didn't help either. ;)

Nice! I would like to go further. Depends on people's input. How about this modified route, in which we can include the pub as a stop then head on out through the Rowena loops out into the Dalles where we end the cruise.

http://goo.gl/maps/8JQPT

We can also start the 'festivities' on Friday night if people want to make a night out on the town (Portland) before the meetup and cruise on Saturday.

Driving with hang overs? Hangover 3 86 style?
