Rear End/Gear/Differential Ratio
It seems to me that the focus has been to extra more ponnies out of the engine.
It surprises me that nobody/tuner tries to do the old trick of swapping the rear end gears into something more aggressive. Any tuning houses out there care to address this? I am just curious. For me, for this kind of car, rear gears swap + lightweight flywheel/pulley could be simple upgrades of a very fun car. Thanks. |
1st gear doesn't sound very fun with a higher FD than the car already has.

there is definitely a few options on the market now, 4.3, 4.5, and higher
That TRD Griffon model that laps Tsukuba in the 1:01 range has a 4.8 FD. I totally agree with you, its the route I plan to take, higher final drive, light flywheel, FUN FUN FUN! |
Yep, 4.77's in my S2k was super fun.

Cusco have an LSD which will take 5.1 gears. That should add some go.

Guilty as charged. Still researching the car before deciding to pull the trigger. What I know now is i like the car from my 3 test drives. I also know that from the characteristics of the engine, i probably wont do FI. So i thought I d go with gearing and light pulley or flywheel maybe cams. I searched the forum and didnt find any discussions on gearing. I appreciate the links, and even more links. Thanks

Can anyone help me to find where I can order the Cusco 4.875 final drive?
