Not Happy with Performance

I have my FRS for 3 months now I think is very good looking car, also handleling is awsome but horse power is weak. Here in Puerto Rico they have this Mitsubishi Mirage non-turbo from 1995 to 1998. And just with a couple of modifications they are around the horsepower of the FRS. I come from VW GTI Turbo that with a couple of mods I am around 220wp. Now I need $3500 for a turbo or supercharge to be around 240hp thats a lot of money buy I need this bad I believe the car is under power just my opinion.

You knew this before buying, right?

That's what i was thinking-- we knew the power was modest over a year in advance to it going on sale, did we not?

Also, i kind of think that people who have the need for lots of power weren't this car's demographic.

Yes I just feel like I regret it, maybe a couple of more money and I was going to be able to get an Impreza wrx, but again I have a car that is very good and not everybody have one...

Many say a little more power would have been great. However, it's a new platform and costs are going to be high compared to the other cars you've mentioned. It's just how it is.

It's got a bit of grunt down low which is nice and useful for city driving, and once you're above the torque dip things are pretty well off there as well. I've yet to track the car however, so I can't comment on the car 'lacking power.'

If you were hoping to start another one of these threads though....lol. Job well done!

The car has plenty of power for what it's meant to do, which is everything but go fast in a straight line.

WorldRallyBlueBRZ 01-24-2013 11:55 AM

Didn't you test drive the car before buying it? This car is not meant to be some drag car or anything like that....Sounds like you should have bought a 370z or a mustang 5.0 instead if power is what you wanted.

CaptainSlow 01-24-2013 11:56 AM

ok.

You are right there maybe I just need to safe money and buy the supercharger

So then look at it like this/

If you get a turbo, then it will be 2000 cheaper because you wont be getting raped on trade in for a more powerful car.

Strong impulse buy lol

Where in Puerto Rico would you use that horsepower?

kombatlion 01-24-2013 12:02 PM

I want it a all around car able to be good in the track and good on the street. I was in love at first sight and now I think I need a little power thats all, just want to know if anybody was feeling like me but it looks like I am alone in here you love ur cars!!

Jajaja Everywhere, everywhere!

Get new headers, intake, exhaust, lighter pulleys &/or flywheel, tune, high performance gas pump.
Honestly I wouldn't be surprised to see more than 20 hp gain/freed considering how much just adding one of these helps.
I wanted to slap a turbo in the car but I changed my mind and plan on keeping it completely stock - yes I agree not enough power but I can live with that.
