Radio and Sound Upgrade Cape Town

Hey guys,

I'm looking to upgrade the sound quality in my 86 and Toyota Cape Town have suggested that I try a company called Soundmatch. I think they do the fitting as well.

Has anyone had any experience with these guys or could maybe recommend another company?

I just cant stand the sound quality anymore LOL! :bonk:

Hey Brandon

I did mine at Car Hifi Centre in Dieprivier/Plumstead. Really good installation. The guys from JL Audio also recommended him. Just speak to Shafick. Images in below thread:

You are also more than welcome to come and look at my installation in person.:happy0180:

Hey @lucius

Nice!

That looks insane. I'd be very keen to hear the improvement over the stock system.

What happens with your Warranty when you add a sound system like that?

lucius 01-24-2013 09:53 AM

..

nah, Toyota won't have a problem. Sound is not an issue for them, it's more performance parts they have a problem with.

I'm going to Shafick again tomorrow to add a mono block and back speakers. Should be even better after that. Just send me a PM some time next week and you can come and listen.

Yep, just don't cut any wires. Get a wiring harness adapter.

Nik27 01-24-2013 03:01 PM

@sav would you get the wiring harness adapter from your dealer or can you find it after market?

Here is an idea for you...

In most cases when ordering the unit, ask for the Toyota 86 din cables, the supplier should stock otherwise all the local audio installers can arrange.

Brandon__ 01-25-2013 03:14 AM

@Ryan, Is that your setup?

I'm getting more and more keen to go the whole "amp and new set of speakers route" and chucking in a bad ass woofer.

What do setups like these cost? I have no idea which audio brand is good or at least good enough?

I think I'm definitely going to hook everything up to an android unit as well. Parrot or not @sav.

@lucius I've heard some good things about this Shafiek guy. I'd much rather find a guy like him who you know will look after your car and do the installation properly. I'm so scared it'll come back with the interior panels scratched or out of place... Nightmarish stuff!

lol, I know what you mean...You think you're bad, you must see mee in action.:)

To be totally honest. I've had all my car systems done from the first day I had a car. This is my forth car. To say there won't be a scatch somewhere is impossible. THEY WILL scratch something. Some you will see some not. But Shafick has been the best I've seen. There is a very very small scratch on one of the panels, but trust me, you won't see it. I will have to point it out to you and you must sit at the correct angle as well...lol...and best of all. If it bothers me I can replace it myself...So there's no need to worry.

My setup cost me +- R16k. I'm adding more stuff that will bring that to R22k....but it's all worth it. Makes the car even better...
@Ryan....that's a nice install....:thumbsup:

This is not my install, really like what this guy in the States did. I opted to leave my spare in the car and did a build around it.
If you going to change sound, best you just take the leap and replace the lot, will cost you more in the long run by adding.
I went Rockford Fostgate Punch, due to it being light, draws very little power and gives a punch.
You can't ask price, decide budget and work with what you can afford within the design you want for your car, keeping within the practicality or use of the boot space.
System Sav has bought is a really good price and he offers free installation and setup...

Brandon__ 01-25-2013 03:54 AM

@lucius, Ya I guess you can just order a fresh new part. How long did it take him to do the installation? I'm not sure if I should order all the audio equipment first then just take it to him for the install? How did you do it?

@Ryan, I'm definitely tempted to just go full tilt and install something big. Good quality sound and a strong bass are really important to me personally. I listen to a lot of electro music so it needs to be good ;)

@sav, I'll PM you about the free installation!!

On your page there...

Take into consideration that the car is thin, heavy bass big subs would be a waste unless you sound dampen.

You see this is the kind of stuff that I simply Dont know off hand. But maybe that's a good thing in that it'll mean I dont have to go crazy with the best sound money can buy.

lucius 01-25-2013 04:59 AM

..

I know you can import the stuff from Amazon for next to nothing. Everything in SA is expensive...someone is taking it up the @ss hard...and it's probably us..

I just did everything at Shafick. He organized the speakers and gave his recommendation and opinion on the best parts.
