EDRs in the Scion FRS
I posted this on another thread but then thought maybe should be here since gov comment period very short time.
I saw an earlier post were people were upset about the EDRs being installed in the FRS's. These are similar to black boxes in planes that record certain data during a wreck. Like how fast you were going. Did you hit the brakes. That kind of thing. Now these boxes are more common in cars. However, now a federal law is about to go into effect to mandate them in all cars. I work in the computer field and a concern with this is that this law does not specify certain restrictions. For now they only collect data and do not record sound. However, there is nothing in the regulation that says it is never to allowed recording of sound nor that they can never add a gps. Some people in the computer field are afraid that it is a way to get around the requirement to go before a judge to have a wire tap or have them follow your activity on your gps. Some people feel it is the problem of putting forth technology without looking at the ramifications. If you want to comment on this federal regulation you may go to http://www.hslda.org/docs/news/2013/201301180.asp to submit your opinion till Feb 11th. |

When the time comes and they start gathering that information I'll build a Faraday cage around my car to block the EM signals.

Perhaps you should market "Faradayskins". Custom fitted panels for cars built from a nearly invisible titanium-ytterbium alloy.

If you use google, have a smartphone or are on Facebook... You should be worried about any of this AND, there's nothing you can do about it anyway. Why? NDAA and the Patriot Act. In today's America you have NO right to privacy and the 4th amendment means very little.
But what does it matter anyway? We all give ALL our privacy to corporations for free anyway don't we? Facebook, Google and Apple are all data mining every thing we do, say, think, share and because of our smart phone..everywhere we go too. Why be concerned about the EDRs? That thing in your pocket is more dangerous to your privacy then any EDR. |
