foot rest popping noise

I noticed that if i put more pressure on either the top or bottom of the left foot rest, it makes a popping noise, almost like it's not sitting flat. Anyone else notice this?

Mine does it. I have no idea why. But seeing as how it's a foot rest and not a foot press I don't let it bother me. As long as I don't press on it, it doesn't make noise.

Mine does it as well, probably just some bad clips, also its called a dead pedal!

I'll take it apart to look in the spring, dealer would probably replace the clips until a tsb is created.

Mine makes more of a loud crack noise (almost like something has broken). I've gotten used to it, but there is definitely something not right with the dead pedal.

I have the same issue. I'm not sure why it does this, but I plan on placing a billet plate down there that I'm going to have the 86 logo etched in it anyways, so I don't care atm.

Just started popping in the last week or two. Hope to dig into it this coming weekend or the next.

Yeah same for me as soon as i apply a bit of pressure it starts popping!! Id be interested in knowing why it does that even though its nothing important!

kchkwan 01-23-2013 03:37 AM

same... its kind of a squeeky pop for me...

Here is the fix boys or at least so far for me. If you take the bottom panel off there and look under the dead pedal it is basically a piece of like styrofoam underneath to provide a base. This piece will rub against the metal and make the noise. You can use silicone sealant and just bead that baby up and it wont pop or squeek anymore. It has been working for me for about 2 months now.

How do they miss this? Or the trunk pop? Or the idle issue? Or the chirping?

These are all issues they knew about but rushed into production. I am sure they will all be fixed for 2014, but we suffer in the meantime. Price we pay for being first.

If everything's fixed and cool in 2015 it might be an excuse for me to trade in for a shiny new one ;)

I brought this up to my dealer...and they showed me a new one on the lot that does the same thing. I hope that tsb shoes up so I can get it fixed.
