Should I?

I'm about to go pick up my car from a dealer in Toronto on Friday ( that's when it comes in) and there is a 80% chance for 5~ cm snow... Should I postpone it (hate to) or just go for it? *first RWD & I'll be driving to Niagara Falls* :iono:

2 hour drive back home in a RWD and summer tire, i'd say postpone. Also imagine all the salt you gonna accumulate on the car thru that 2 hr drive.

My suggestion is either snow tires, or weight in the back. I recently had one on the ice at the sleeman center in guelph. I added 264lbs of dead weight (water softener salt bags), never lost traction on the ice or my 20minutes drive home in a snowstorm, but can get a little scary without the weight

Don't drive in the snow with the stock summer tires. They're not even all seasons. Have a set of winters installed before hitting the road.

With the summer tires, or even the all seasons, waiting might be a good idea if there's snow falling. This car is pretty lively in the white stuff. The nannies do a good job of keeping her straight, but without winter tires it could be dicey. If you plan on winter driving anyway, you're going to need some good winter skins. JMO.

I wouldn't recommend it. Even if it goes well you won't enjoy it. Wait a few days and drive on good roads. Traction with the stock tires is very, very poor on snow. What is a couple more days now?

Burrcold 01-22-2013 07:56 PM

DO NOT DO IT! You definitely don't want your an accident on your first drive with the car.

If its the FRS likely has all seasons, but I'd say postpone it... at least until saturday

Be no fun spending the first 2-3 hrs in your new car in grid lock..

Wait.

i had stock tires on snow for 2 mins, can't even move forward. i made a 180 degree inertia drift and went back home. you really need snow tires. you can buy them and bring them to the dealer on friday.

Get some snow tires

I don't suppose the dealer will give you a good deal on some winter tires? Or perhaps a place down the street? Winter tires are a must for a driver with very little seat time in a RWD car. Not to mention most are sold with summer only tires.

nbafandan 01-22-2013 10:49 PM

ahh I see, I knew it was gonna be hard to drive on snow but its saying Friday would be the first day to snow more than 1 cm.. what if its not actually 5 cm can I still drive it in 2-3 cm? + when highways are cleaned up?
