This forum is pretty damn amazing
My buddy had a question about his G35 so I started looking around forums for him. I was amazed at how almost every thread starts off with a question then goes immediately into flaming. This was the same with the Honda forum another co-worker goes to. This forum just has a great culture to it and some great people. I see questions being asked and answered on a regular basis. This is what forums are meant to be. Sharing information in the desire to learn our cars and get the most of them.
Kinda curious as to what creates such a negative culture on other sites. Is it the moderators, demographics or ...... Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2 |
Good post. I totally agree. I came over from another car forum that I was on before I bought my FR-S and the group here is very much more civil and friendly. It's a pleasant place to spend some time.

Really? I mean, compared to sites like Honda-Tech it's not bad, but I have been a part of a lot better forums where people don't get a bunch of flak after starting a thread. Specifically the thread in the FR-S section where ravenblackfrs caught hell because he used his phone while at a red light. That is the most recent example I can think of, but there have been many more.

So we had to filter out rumours, didn't care (or even know) if 'our' car was the best, everyone came from different car backgrounds, and we generally had to get along and entertain ourselves (often with technical theory topics on why each rumoured tech could be awesome, as well as wicked concept photoshops for each other) while waiting for new, confirmed, information. And no one was trying to sell us things for a car that didn't exist. You may have noticed a strong demand for 'facts' or 'results', as well as skepticism from official sources (although decreasing with more and more new, naive and/or agenda-driven and vocal nutswingers). This comes from having had to filter through all the bs rumours about the FT86. It was frustrating to have circular rumours posted as new news, only to follow the trail back to ourselves. Even coming from 'reliable' media. But it will probably slowly devolve into a 'normal' forum as time goes on. Cheers, Your friendly FT86club.com historian (Where the FT stands for Forgot Topic.) |

Heh... It will get worse, too. Sad. |
idk. this forum has it's ups and downs. many ppl are willing to help, but there are a few outspoken ppl who like to express their opinions on why they are right and you are wrong.
like that kid who messed up his pulley install and the thread turned into a fraud war. (I, stupidly was involved) |
I think it must be the demographic. Check out some Lexus or BMW forums, they all seem pretty mellow compared to Scion forums for example where nearly everyone is, well, lets say a younger crowd.

I like it over all now if we could just have a better search engine then we're all good

This forum is awesome cuz of ME! LMAO
Put my ego a side (before our boss beat me lol). I think 2 major things that helps on this forum. 1. Ninja Mod (aka our boss) - He read the reports & cleans out (hellova a lot faster than me) threads/posts before becomes hectic, so you don't see much flame wars. 2. Awesome Members - I think, this play the main part. A lot (& I mean it) A LOT of members keep themselves mature (to certain level) :) |
Give it a few years and it'll be exactly like honda-tech, vxvortex, or evom.

This Forum is just as dicey as the general Nissan and Honda forums or whatever forum you venture into, there are a few differences that I noticed that is a bit different than other forums i frequent.
1. Your admin and moderators are on the same page when running this site, we really strive to keep the environment as clean as possible without intruding on people's right to give opinions (good and bad) 2. We actively ban people on a daily basis who do not attempt to keep their attitudes in check. You can disprove or call someone out on anything, without being rude. 3. We make sure that the forum members know that they too are also responsible for a good forum community/experience, and can talk to/report to any of the moderators or admin to make the environment healthy. Its difficult to keep the forum community in control of ill behavior especially a growing community, but as time goes by I hope we can try to be different than the rest by doing more on our part by being model moderators who act more like real leaders than police. |
I miss the days of ft86club when there was no car and no offcial info at all we had to work together to figure out what would be most likely or real and what wasn't. also during the times were we had no new info/rumours we talked about what cars we came from and other cars just to kill time

I think this forum is very nice-- much better than almost any i've been on. (aside from Grassroots Motorsports.)
Although, if you're a very by-the-books driver, some of the things you hear on this forum may make your eye twitch. And you'd better not try to correct people, because they get upset when you remind them of driving safety. |
