Floor Mat Idea

So my floor mats are the last part of my car that mark its as an FR-S. Just now I popped the FR-S logo off of them and I have ice cubes on them to make the fabric stand back up.

I had an idea though. The 86 floor mats have the 86 logo on them like this.

They cost more money than I want to spend though considering my mats are still in good shape. I could get some sways bars instead!

86_ZN6 sells some 86 keychains here:

I just ordered two of them and I am going to attempt to recreate the 86 floor mats by trimming the logo into a circle and attaching them to my mats. Any ideas how to keep the 86 logos in place?

Super glue

If you weld a little bar down like the old ones have and get a washer and a lug you can screw it on from the bottom but that might take more time super glue should work or gorilla glue.

Great idea!

Well, I finally got around to doing this. It turned out about like I expected, it tends to match the red stitching well. Overall, it is a little smaller than I would have liked. If you noticed in the original pic, the 86 logo is about the same size as the black circle that keeps the mat in place. My alternative is a little smaller than that, but hey, it is meant to be a keychain so I can't really complain.

I opted to cover the bottom with velcro as it sticks incredibly well to the floor mats and nothing is permanent.

when you take off the fr-s logo, if you didnt replace it with something else, how obvious would it be that it used to be there? im considering popping mine off and just leaving it as is, but i dont want it to look bad

The floor mat will be pressed down a slightly but if you put ice cubes on it and let them melt it will cause the carpet fibers to loosen up and you can brush them with an old tooth brush. After that it isn't noticeable at all.

So I had the same idea, but, not finding any all-silver keychains, I opted instead of modifying the 86 fender emblems. I bought some cheap knock-off ones off of Amazon, and, using a dremel, removed the paint and cut off the pistons. I'm just using the 3M tape on the back for now, but may try out the Velcro idea.

They are about the right diameter, just a little tall.

Digging this 5-year old thread up from the graveyard, I’ve been looking for something to replace the old FR-S badges on my floor mats and decided these black matte piston fender badges would look pretty good. What do you think?

I did it on my BRZ with some cheap eBay STI badges. Screws through the matt into the badge. So far it’s held up.
