internal lighting color debate. help?
thinking of ditching the bright ass white lights inside my car, but torn between red and blue. out of car is blue, but inside has red/orange accents. btw my fav color is blue also, but i want the car to match up right. opinions?
|
1. Decide which color you like best
2. Buy whichever color you decide on 3. ??? 4. Profit |
I have blue LED domes and footwells will be installed this week
|
thats the problem. i like them both. just curious which would overall match better on a blue FRS with those red interior accents. i am very OCD on matching. if it doesnt match its crap in my mind
|
i vote red. the blue will look strange washing on the red accents in the car imo
|
My buddy has bright red LED lights inside his red mr2. I hate them, such a PITA to see with colored lights as opposed to white, but that could just be me lol

When you get done can you post pictures?!
|
Red for wheel wells. Leave the dome as is or lose tha fade out feature.

I prefer incandescent ambient lighting up top. If you swap to LED you lose the fade out feature. People are still giddy about LEDs but the novelty passed for me.
Red is less distracting at the footwell. There is also a scientific basis for avoiding blue lighting at night as it stimulates serotonin production which can mess up sleep patterns. You are matching the light switches and any lower mount cabin lights with red. |
but since it's linked to the dome, i doubt it'd b distracting unless stopped
|
where can you buy the different color dome lights?
|
@Chris@Phastek is where im looking

The blue/red night vision debate has been going on forever all over this forum and other forums.
Driving with blue hasn't affected me thus far and I drive at night all of the time. My biggest concern was my rear view mirror and I can actually see cars just fine if I or a passenger has to pop it on to search for something. Cops around here use red dome lights in their cars and I also wanted to avoid that because they can get real pissy on "imitating an officer" charge. Even with dome lights....yeah. |
wow thats really gay. but ya def post up some pics when u get ur blues installed
|
I have something in the works that will allow the user to have whatever accent color they want coming from the domelight, but also be able to switch over to the absolute brightest white light available from any vendor. Information soon to come.

that sounds interesting, havent seen this b4
|
It will also maintain full dimming capabilities with LEDs.

cant wait to see this to see if i can link it up with a nice RGB footwell for full changeable lights
|
It won't have RGB LEDs. But each customer will be able to choose their accent color.
It will make every other LED domelight for this car look like a horse drawn carriage next to a F1 car. ;) -Acree |
o so it's jus a static color, but unlike now where the options r basically red white and blue?
|
It will be strictly dual function. One accent color which can be any color the customer chooses (red blue green purple pink orange yellow etc) and then there will be a white main light in warm, neutral, or cool white.

ooo, so i can have my car full of nice red lights for that cool look, but then switch the dome to white to actually looks for things?
|
Yep. Switched to door, the light will be an accent color (red) slightly brighter than the stock bulb that still dims like stock.
Switch it to ON, the accent turns off and white turns on. It will put out 1700 lumens. A stock hid bulb puts out ~3200 lumens. There will also be a half powered option that puts out 850 lumens if the former is too bright for some people. And I'm sure it will be for some. -Acree |

I have red LED's on my dome. I had the whites at first but it was way too harsh. The Red is easy on the eyes, goes with the accent, and the fade in/out still works.

It will be completely plug and play. The entire domelight assembly will be retrofit. The customer will do nothing but unplug the old assembly and plug in the new one. -Acree |

I see. I know you're not at the finished stage yet, but what are you thinking for a price?
|
It is tough to say at this point. It is worth mentioning that is not just a board with a couple of wires coming out of it that you plug in place of the stock bulb. This is a full dome light assembly retrofit.

Hugely interested! I'll keep an eye out =)

Red-Orange
I put two under the footwells to match the bright orange of the Bespoke stereo - it looks great. my dome is still white but I was thinking that would go same color as well soon -- |

I say, looks great. Too bad my footwell kit is prewired to my dome, but if i figure out a fix then i may b all over this if the price is right

Halfway down there is a split so as long as i can easily tap into this power safely it should work easy
|
I say the blue lighting Acree is working on, plus maybe a trip to a shop that does upholstery and see if you can have that stitching replaced with blue. I'm thinking about doing it with my car to match better.
