GTS Headunit Problems
Hi Guys..
Anyone knows how come my phonebook doesnt seem to load ALL my contacts onto the screen? There seems to be some contacts the system misses that are on my iPhone 4S. Also.. when someone from my contact list calls.. I can only see their number and not their corresponding name.. No caller id The voice command is also weird. When trying to make a call i go "handsfree" then "call (name)" then location (ie mobile, work etc). Saying the word "mobile" doesnt seem to be recognized on my system.. =( PLEASE HELP!! |
I can't give you any solutions, but can confirm the head unit is indeed rubbish and thing just don't work very well. The voice commands are close to useless...

If it doesn't work as intended, shoudn't something like this be covered under warranty?
I've having all sorts of issues with the GPS and audio via iPod/iPhone (either Bluetooth Audio or USB) |

I had issues with GPS too... I pulled out the Headunit and cleaned up all the cables and moved the GPS transmitter a bit and worked fine. (transmitter is to the left of the headunit behind the dash, magnet on metal.) |
iphone does not fully support bluetooth MAP because apple is shit.

aftermarket for the win.

I don't think anything is 'wrong' with mine (lost GPS signal a couple of times though) I just frankly think the head unit is an inferior product - can i go to Toyota, get them to put a standard one in, and ask for $2k back? Doubt it. The technology from this unit is about 5 years old, touch screen unresponsive, screen resolution is low, sat nav is slow as crap (have you tried zooming in/out!?). It's just a bad unit. Source: I used to work for an after-market head unit manufacturer. |

The same HU is used on lots of other Toyota models (Corolla's etc) and I have similar Bluetooth & iPod problems with those units with the work cars. |
software version on my unit is 15. apparently its 18 now.
some members have had success at getting their dealers for a replacement sd card. dont think this will fix the bluetooth issue though. read some where samsung galaxy s3 doesnt have any problems with this unit. |
Biggest problem i have had with this headunit both in the 86 and other models, is the unit takes forever to connect to the bluetooth device and when an iPod is plugged in sometimes the current song will just 'pause' and won't resume without shutting off the unit, and reconnecting the player.

I've only had a disconnect issue once, and it was immovable in reconnecting so to spare myself a driving accident i was forced to just listen to radio like a commoner for the remainder of my trip.
Contacts as well are inconsistent in displaying names, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. But it's a subjective issue, the same contacts seem to be not displaying so maybe there's an issue with the way the contact is stored on the phone (mine is android). Perhaps linking of contacts across google, phone, and facebook profiles is causing problems. Lastly, voice recognition flat out does not work for me :( Now i have a useless button on my headunit. |
