Will the demand be really high on Scion FR-S?

I'm a teenager and I've been drooling on :(this car since day 1. I've been working but and saving and I got about 3500 saved up so obviously I'm not getting this car next year , but maybe in the next 2-3to years. So do you think they're would be anymore left, will the price be increased over time. I'm looking to save up about 12,000 for a good down payment. I really want this car I've been driving my grandmothers passat turbo. Give me thoughts and God bless.

No they won't run out (unless the car is a complete failure on release and Toyota decides to scrap the car, which I highly doubt). Just keep saving and focus on your schooling and the car will still be there when you're done. You might want to consider buying a low-mileage used one, too. Just something to think about.

This. Or buy a old manual junker to learn how to drive a manual (preferably a RWD). Continue saving up and either buy a used or new BRZ/FRS. I wouldn't recommend you buying the BRZ/FRS as your first new car without having much experience driving or knowing how to drive a manual.

Plus, given that the BRZ price is about ~24, we can *assume* the scion will be ~21-22 base price. I was in a similar situation in 2006/7 when I got my first car as a sophomore in HS (scion tC). Its not easy paying for it, but as long as you stick to the ramen noodles and don't waste your $ on games, etc. you can certainly own one soon.

Good luck to you!

this sounds like some sound advice. ill never forget my first two supras and how much time i spent backwards. i know i sound like a fan boy but just buy a used na miata for like 3k. i can all but promise you it will be more fun than the frs. especially when you dont have payments to make. if you decide to get more just use the money you saved from not having payments. 2k on some 949/ast coilovers and if you want just spend another couple thousand to supercharge it and i cant see the frs performing better in any caterogy. (if youre up for all the hype the na miata has a lower cog, less weight and a better suspension design)

Thanks I appreciate that. That's what I plan on doing.

Thanks, I know that the miata is excellent car but I really don't like the styling ques of it. In better words it looks kind of ...."girly"

FRS will be my first manual car granted i haven't driven stick in a long time since my uncle taught me. Kinda depends on how quick you are to learn, only took me about 20mins to get used shifting and riding a motorcycle and id say thats about 2x more demanding than a car. But everyone is different of course.

Hmm Im gonna be a little more on the support with the new car for new driver side of this argument. I mean it's not bad for a new driver to get a new car, especially if they're getting another auto. Now as for a manual you should learn in another car first, they do have schools for that sort of thing now and or you can learn in a friend's car. I mean everybody let's not forget SCION is a brand that's perfect for a first car.

And aside from the 30% enthusiast that will probrably purchase this car for what it really is. The other 70% wil buy it Automatic and just for the looks. I mean just look at how many Auto TC and 370Z and RX8 out there.

LOL and that's a very typical argument for a young driver to say about a Miata. Real enthusiast know Miata is the bread and butter of sports cars. Nothing Girly about them

:word: I think OP, you should get a used one since you're a teenager and will need money for doing something else.

New manual car or not isn't really the problem. Some people drive manual for life, but they still screw up. It depends on how you drive, just be aware of environment surrounding you. Manual just has one more pedal and a little more effort. I think a used manual FR-S or tC would be great choices for people who want manual transmission car, but don't want an old car.
To be honest, I crashed twice in my automatic car (Camry 95), but never in a manual (Civic 95, Camry 90).

Just drive carefully and safely, MT and AT are not different.

hard to tell. the price is the biggest factor on whether if the demand will be high or low.

if it is sub 21k, demand high
21-22k, demand mid to high
23-24k, demand will be low because the brz appears to start at 24k.

also i learned how to drive stick on my own as a 22 yr old. i drove my 5spd at night and around empty parking lots mostly to get a feel for the clutch. i suggest you do the same, OP

Ever thought about either leasing or getting a used one? Buying new at your age is dumb, as soon as you drive it off the lot you loose 1-2 K. However, if you plan on keeping the car for many many years then I would say get it but at your age I promise you will want a different car in 5-8 years so you should try to avoid large depreciation hits. Cars are fun but don't get caught in the hype and spend money you might want to have saved.
